We are seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist with experience in algorithm development, statistical analysis, and interpretation of on/off-target gene editing data. This position will play a crucial role in moving Metagenomi’s extensive genome-editing toolbox into the clinic by supporting our discovery and pre-clinical programs. This role will be based in Emeryville, California.
How you’ll contribute:
Optimize and develop computational algorithms for gene-editing on/off-target assays to characterize CRISPR-based gene editing profiles
Assist discovery and pre-clinical teams with large-scale data analyses
Provide statistical support to assess genome editing outcomes in pre-clinical studies
Summarize and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
What you bring:
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Artificial Intelligence, or related discipline with equivalent experience
At least five years experience in biotech or related field, preferably working on gene editing
Experience developing novel algorithms to solve bioinformatics problems
Experience in CRISPR editing and off-target analysis
Experience in applying bioinformatic and statistical analysis to support the nomination and development of lead therapeutic candidates
Familiar with the process and requirements leading up to IND filing
Expert in programming and statistical analysis in Python and R
Experience with machine learning and statistics using scikit-learn and Scipy
Experience interpreting and visualizing complex data using visualization tools, such as Seaborn, Plotly, matplotlib, and ggplot2
Self-motivated, passionate about your work, and eager to continuously learn
Able to communicate effectively across multiple scientific disciplines
Preferred additional qualifications:
Understanding of test-driven development and unit testing framework
Experience with developing Nextflow pipelines, working with cloud computing systems (AWS), and building containerized data workflows to handle large-scale data streams
Familiarity with software development practices such as unit testing, code reviews, and version control
California Pay Transparency Disclosure:
This position is classified as an exempt salaried position under the Federal Labor Standards Act. This position's anticipated base salary range will be $150,000 to $180,000. Depending on the position offered, you will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
