We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Software Asset Manager to join our dynamic and innovative team. As a Senior Software Asset Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire software asset lifecycle, optimizing software utilization, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and implementing strategies to enhance software asset management processes across the organization. This senior-level role demands a deep understanding of software licensing, vendor management, and strong analytical skills to optimize software costs and mitigate risks.
What You’ll Do
Software Asset Lifecycle Management:
Develop and implement strategies for the acquisition, deployment, and retirement of software assets.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of software licenses and maintenance agreements.
Conduct regular audits to validate software deployments and reconcile license entitlements.
Vendor Management and Negotiation:
Collaborate with Procurement to ensure vendor negotiations are favorable.
Monitor IT vendor performance and maintain positive relationships with software suppliers.
Compliance and Governance:
Ensure adherence to software license agreements, compliance regulations, and internal policies.
Create policies, processes where needed to support and end to end lifecycle.
Mitigate potential legal and financial risks related to software license compliance.
Collaborate with SaaS Security council, Legal, Procurement ensuring end to end compliance.
Maintain accurate inventories of Software and administrate associated applications.
Cost Optimization:
Analyze software usage data to identify opportunities for cost optimization and license re-harvesting.
Implement strategies to reduce software overspending and optimize licensing models.
Reporting and Analysis:
Generate comprehensive reports on software asset status, usage, and compliance for stakeholders and management.
Utilize data analysis to make informed decisions regarding software procurement and usage.
Process Improvement:
Continuously enhance software asset management processes and workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve overall IT asset management.
Lean Six Sigma Belt certification is a plus.
Software License Audits:
Lead and manage software license audits by external vendors or authorities.
Ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and available for the audit process.
Training and Mentoring:
Train and mentor key stakeholders & IT members on software asset management best practices, tooling and processes.
Provide guidance and support to the IT department and end-users on software compliance and licensing issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Proven experience (typically 8 years +) in software asset management, software licensing, or related IT asset management roles.
In-depth knowledge of software licensing models, compliance regulations, and industry best practices.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with a track record of successful software contract negotiations.
Proficient in using software asset management tools and technologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and management.
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions regarding software asset management strategies.
Certifications in IT asset management or software licensing (e.g., CSAM, CHAMP, IAITAM) are desirable.
This is a hybrid role and requires atleast 3 days in-person at our Santa Clara, CA office

The annual base salary range is: $141,000-$212,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
