The Opportunity
Flexports’ Global Operations team is the front line team responsible for successfully managing our Customer’s supply chains end to end. To achieve this the Global Operations Team is at the heart of delighting our customers, managing our partners and working closely with our technology partners to drive innovation through process automation. With our focus on developing a global network, our operational teams are strategically located across the world to manage and execute our services and products offered to our customers and partners. Flexport Global Operations raises the bar by using data to manage our customer’s supply chains and identifies opportunities to improve fidelity in planning, responsiveness and overall execution.
The Manager of Operations is a subject matter expert and an operational leadership role, responsible for the end to end management and execution of shipments. This role is an expert in their area of responsibility with a proven track record of delivering superior service and fostering strong partnerships. In addition, this role is responsible to manage high performing teams, building a culture of growth and development, providing team members an excellent career path.This role is responsible to establish to predefined processes and work closely with operational excellence and product teams to develop scalable and standardized processes for all our products and services. This role is responsible for oversight and governance towards internal and external compliance requirements, identifying and mitigating key risks for the company and customers. This role works closely with offices and partners globally to meet key performance indicators and demonstrates high accountability to input and output metrics in their areas of responsibility. This role owns goals to improve quality and cost to serve. This role, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis is responsible for resource planning to expected volumes. In addition, this role works closely with service partners to ensure sufficient capacity to execute planned volumes and resolves capacity gaps in the short term. This role works very closely with its global and regional counterparts in operations to ensure a seamless transaction.
You will:
Be responsible to manage and develop a team of individual contributors and supervisors/team leaders, establishing clear growth paths and challenging opportunities for team members
Manage to internal and external requirements to maintain a high bar in safety, security and supply chain compliance
Be a subject matter expert in their area of responsibility, acting as the go to person to develop process improvements or experiment with new ideas/products
Use data and other insights to problem solve and continuous improvement at scale
Plan labor and capacity on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and is responsible to work with partners and procurement/contract staffing to solve for immediate needs
Identify and monitor process defects that inhibit team members to execute to quality, cost and service goals and work towards reducing defects.
Run weekly stand-ups for planning, communication and feedback cadences.
Ensure sufficient finance controls to eliminate revenue and cost leakage
You Should Have:
5+ years leading a team of people in the services industry at department or shift level
Business degree in Supply Chain or equivalent experience
Proven track record in delivering results in cost, quality or service delivered
Proficiency in speaking and writing English
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years experience in cross border supply chains and logistics and/or freight forwarding
2+ years in customer facing roles
Qualified in lean principles, six sigma or equivalent
Experience in data analytics and programs such as SQL or equivalent
