We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Compliance Associate, Greater China to join our team in mainland China. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to import/export activities and trade compliance.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations and company standards
Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and provide recommendations for remediation
Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on compliance matters, including import/export regulations, customs clearance procedures, and trade compliance requirements
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance
Coordinate with internal and external partners on compliance-related matters, including government agencies, customs brokers, and trade associations
Support the development and implementation of trade compliance programs, including export controls and sanctions compliance
Manage compliance-related investigations, including conducting internal investigations and liaising with regulatory authorities as necessary
Collaborate with the product and tech teams to provide input on compliance-related requirements for new features and enhancements, and ensure that all new features and enhancements comply with relevant regulations and policies related to import/export activities and trade compliance.
Ensure that partners and vendors comply with all relevant regulations and policies related to import/export activities and trade compliance, including conducting due diligence on new partners and vendors, monitoring their ongoing compliance, and addressing any compliance issues that arise.
Experience in conducting due diligence on e-commerce platforms, sellers, and products to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies related to import/export activities and trade compliance. This includes evaluating product descriptions, country of origin, and other relevant information to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provide support for other compliance-related activities, as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in law, business, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in air/ocean freight operations, or 3 years of customs compliance/regulatory and trade compliance, preferably in an international trade environment, or in an international freight forwarding service provider.
Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, customs clearance procedures, and trade compliance requirements in mainland China
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise compliance-related documents, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Fluency in Mandarin and English is required
