Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. In the autonomy team we are making our piloted production aircraft, Midnight, into a full autonomous vehicle.  We are looking for people with a broad background of experience including software, systems engineering, and certification with a drive to see autonomous aircraft made real.  What you’ll do: Join a small team of engineers working on Archer’s autonomous future Lead investigations for large, open-ended questions around autonomous flight Decompose autonomous flight functions into requirements with strong analytical justifications Investigate, evaluate and select existing technologies for performing autonomous functions on our Midnight aircraft Participate in roadmapping exercises for creating schedules, budgets and milestones to reach our goals General: Passion for learning and problem solving Enjoys operating in a small team filling different roles and responsibilities Experience with advancing technologies from concept to production Degree in engineering or related field What you need: 6+ Years of experience in professional experience in the Aerospace/Automotive industry (or 4+ years with a Masters) Experience with aerospace systems engineering process Experience with aerospace safety process Excellent organizational and communication skills Bonus qualifications: Experience with designing, validating, and verifying systems for aircraft Experience certifying systems for aerospace applications Experience with full lifecycle safety critical systems with safety standards like ARP-4761, ARP-4754, DO-178C or ISO 26262 Experience with requirements management tools (ie Polarion, DOORS, etc)   At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $151,680 - $189,600. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
