Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do:
This role leads and manages all aspects of Archer’s Air Vehicle engineering team ensuring excellent technical integrity of these systems, while ensuring cost and schedule objectives for these systems are maintained. This role ensures the systems within the air vehicle team are certifiable and drives the team towards the ultimate certification of the Midnight platform. This role reports to the VP of Engineering for Archer.
Leads the following teams:
Airframe design and Structural Analysis
Mechanical Systems
Landing Gear Systems
Furnishings and Equipment System (Interiors)
Material and Processes
Material Review Board (MRB)
Cost, Schedule, Technical responsibility for these systems
Verification and Validation of the design of these systems through analysis or test resulting ultimately in the certification of the aircraft
Support the Build team by solving engineering/manufacturing issues that may occur with the flight test vehicles
Support the flight test team through responsive action required to keep the flight test vehicles flying
What You Need:
15+ years of experience in aircraft structures
5+ years of managerial and technical leadership experience
BS, MS, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
History of sIgnificant contributions in aircraft or rotorcraft development programs inclusive of the entire lifecycle including design, development, and certification (Part 23, 25, 27, or 29)
Broad expertise across all domains of structures (design, analysis, materials, test)
Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
Extensive experience with aerospace composite and metallic structures
Strong organizational and programmatic skills
Decisive and Driven
Experience managing external contractors or suppliers
Experience in a fast-paced design environment
Bonus Qualifications:
eVTOL experience
Experience with Aircraft Loads Development
Experience with advanced composite processes specializing in high rate manufacturing
Familiar with UG NX as a CAD tool, Teamcenter as a PLM tool, and FEMAP/Nastran as an FEA tool

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $268,800 - $336,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
