The role:
Archer is seeking a Director for Assembly & Integration responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, tooling engineering, and production planning teams for aircraft assembly. You will have direct responsibility over all aspects of aircraft technical operations to include design for manufacturing, technical interface with engineering, shop floor technical support, assembly tool selection & design, industrialization, and implementation of automated solutions where appropriate. You will be responsible for engaging cross functional resources to ensure we keep our employees safe, build quality into our product, deliver on time, and aggressively manage cost through build optimization and efficiency improvements. This role requires significant cross functional collaboration with Sales Inventory, Operations and Planning (SIOP), Material Management, Quality, Human Resources, Program Management, Environmental/Health/Safety, Finance, and Engineering teams.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leading a cross-functional team, providing leadership and direction with an emphasis on team building through effective communication
Responsible and accountable for your department budget; establishing operational and financial objectives
Manage all manufacturing technical operations activities to ensure completion of customer and business requirements
Develop & support long- and short-term planning, policies, programs and objectives
Lead the team to monitor and improve manufacturing processes, increase efficiency, reduce product cost and improve yields on all products
Exhibit competent knowledge of all assembly & integration processes providing technical support & oversight to the shop floor
Interface with Manufacturing Manager & Design Engineering on a daily basis to understand technical issues and where we need to focus efforts in supporting production
Administer and oversee technical program/project execution by managing scope, tasks/schedules/cost projections for all projects
Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
Manage resource investment in organization development, capital equipment and new technology to assure organizational, manufacturing, product and market leadershipOversee and help coordinate process improvement activities that reduce cycle time and increase throughput.
Support career development, employee engagement, time approval, staffing, yearly reviews and all other related activities for the Assembly & Integration team
Build organization capability through assessment and management of key leadership positions, coaching of manufacturing leaders and strategic development actions
The Assembly & Integration team will serve as the main process area interface when investigating, identifying and resolving discrepancies and performance issues when necessary. Understand impacts to production and coordinate providing alternate processing recommendations.
Lead efforts to implement lean management systems, lean tools and high performance work teams
Essential Qualifications:
Previous plant management training & experience
Minimum of 15 years of manufacturing operations experience within the aerospace sector
10+ years of demonstrated successful people management experience – including experience managing technical organizations
Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations
Hands-on experience developing and managing budgets with responsibility for cost performance
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship
Excellent oral and writing communication skills
Strong leadership skills along with proven capability to deliver results and build high performance teams
Background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools
Broad knowledge of key operational systems including sales inventory operations planning (SIOP), materials planning systems (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution system (MES), and quality systems with diverse experience managing varied and complex manufacturing processes
Strong bias for action, can communicate vision clearly, and be a driver of change
Agile leadership style; able to adjust one’s approach to fit the situation as a driver, coach, mentor, or teacher
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 requirements

This role will move to Covington, Georgia in 2024 to support launching our high volume manufacturing facility

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $220,320 - $259,200 . Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
