As a technical and inspiring leader, you will work across organizational and team boundaries in order to drive decisions that align with our future architecture, product, and business goals. You will lead significant technology initiatives from inception to successful deployment, across multiple layers of architecture. Collaboration is at the core of our strategy, and we'll look to you to drive effective execution and deliver key business impact all, while cultivating and growing an excellent team. You will play a critical role in bridging communication between the US and Poland teams. With Box being an early adopter, supporter, and contributor of Kubernetes, you will work for the company that introduced kubectl , kube-state-metrics , and kube-applier to the open-source community. Our team owns services that are critical to Box's platform. You will be at the forefront of Box's journey to the next-generation, Kubernetes-native infrastructure, Service Mesh infrastructure based on Istio as part of Multi Cloud initiative. Who you are:  Ideally 2+ years experience as a software engineering manager, ideally leading teams owning high-scale production services Ideally 5+ years of professional software development experience building full stack web applications and/or distributed systems Build alignment and execute on new technical ideas with an understanding of best practices Experience driving effective execution with agile processes in a highly dynamic environment Ideally people-oriented leader able to model and cultivate a collaborative inclusive culture Strong communicator, passionate about technology and enjoy raising the bar Experience working with distributed teams in different time zones is a plus Must speak English proficiently  Bonus: You have hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for cloud such as AWS, GCP. Experience architecting, designing, operationalizing container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Experience with ServiceMesh like Istio or any other Envoy based ServiceMesh Passion about open source and staying up-to-date with the community Good understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals You have a proven track record of building tooling, automation, and/or services in one or multiple languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby) You will be expected to:  Lead a team of experienced engineers located in Poland Define team's roadmap, execution plans and take ownership of delivery Develop your team members via 1:1s, career planning, coaching discussions, timely career guidance and grow the team through hiring great engineers Model and uphold our values through building a collaborative, inclusive team with a focus on customer impact and building for leverage in the newly created office Cultivate a culture of excellence on the team through a focus on execution, quality, and scale Organize stand-ups, sprint planning, technical discussions and work for the team and maintain sprint task statuses in issue tracking tool Attend team, project, and manager 1:1 meetings weekly Partner with product to scope new features, provide project estimates and milestones to inform quarterly commitments Collaborate with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team is delivering true business impact Represent Box Poland internally and externally Methodology You love building distributed systems for large scale, high volume applications You are passionate about solving complex problems using data-driven solutions You believe all infrastructure should be deployed as code You act like an owner and strive to do work you're proud of, both technically and in your team interactions EQUAL OPPORTUNITY We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
