Project EngineerStatus: Exempt (Salary)Department: Energy SolutionsPosition SummaryThe Project Engineer is accountable for the success of the technical scope of the project. This position is responsible for planning, preparing forecasting, executing, monitoring and managing all technical activities and identifying resources to assure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. This role requires thorough understanding of :Normal, project-scale engineering execution processes and proceduresRelationships between the various discipline design requirements and subsequent productindividual discipline capabilities and the associated performance requirementsCore Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage all phases of the technical project, including all engineering, design, and technical resources associated with the project to complete the project within budget and on schedule.Coordinate the development of all technical deliverables during engineering and design phasesProvide technical guidance and coordination for fabrication and commissioning efforts.Assist Project Management in the development of the Project Execution Plan including:Compiling the Engineering Deliverables listingPrepare project specifications ListProvide detail input and support development of the Project ScheduleAssist in preparing the Project Procurement PlanThe successful Sr Project Engineer should possess a developed project management skill set with the ability to serve as interim project manager if required.Interact professionally with outside engineering services and manage the ongoing delegation of engineering deliverables and approvals to the discipline project engineers on staff.Develop and manage a technical scope of work, budget and schedule to comply with the Project Execution Plan.Provide technical instruction and guidance, for all engineering and design resources assigned to the project, enabling them to complete their required deliverables efficiently.Analyze and interpret project requirements and assure they are communicated to the technical project team.Review of all technical deliverables (engineering and design) to ensure that they comply with the technical SOWAssure implementation and compliance with applicable codes, practices, policies and performance standards and specifications.Review engineering calculations to ensure products and systems conform PlugPower specifications.Communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other stakeholders within the project team to provide technical support.Recommend design improvements to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality.Serve as the primary technical interface with third-party manufacturers, integrators and fabricators.Actively attend third-party inspections and FAT’s as required to satisfy the project ITP and the company quality initiative.Support the Project Manager with regular updates on engineering and subcontractor progress, and with schedule and budget recovery planning.Responsible for the technical aspects of project change management.Provide Start-up and commissioning support, possibly on-site, if needed.SECONDARY DUTIESFunction as a discipline engineer, responsible for performing specific project tasks based on individual capability in the absence of the specific technical resource within the project organization chart.Function as a Discipline SME (subject matter expert), responsible for reviewing specific project deliverables to satisfy the technical review cycle (based on individual capability).Contribute to the development of Hydrogen Plant Group technical specifications.Contribute to the development of standard plant designs.Support early project development by providing technical input like specification reviews, and engineering deliverables like conceptual sketches, calculations and more.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week​Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering requiredPossess an understanding of typical E & C engineering execution process, as well as the relationships between multidiscipline predecessors and successors.Equipment design experience is preferred.Experience with fabrication standards, in regard to process equipment.Broad technical background, awareness or knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, NEC, AWS, NACE, IBC, etc.)Experience developing technical scopes of work is a plus.Ability to concisely communicate deviations, Non-conformance and required changes.Ability to review technical documentation such as P&IDs, electrical schematics, PFDs, equipment detailed drawings, etc.Knowledge of modular plant design including 3D modeling is a plus.Knowledge of accepted design drafting practices and presentations.Use fact-based, structured decision-making process to initiate and support appropriate actions.Effectively exchange information and ideas within the work group and with other cross-functional groups.Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and accept total ownership and accountability.Able to identify problems and review related information to develop and
