SummaryThe Senior Manager of Accounting performs a broad range of special projects interfacing with internal and external customers or senior management. This position monitors accounting changes, assists with financial reporting, and conducts high-level calculations. This position provides decision authority within defined monetary amounts that may significantly impact business strategies or plans. The Senior Manager of Accounting manages projects and situations independently without detailed direction and guidance and works with abstract concepts and complexity.ResponsibilitiesAccounting ManagementManages and coordinates a broad range of projects, many of which are non-standard reportingReviews complex calculations for reporting and financial statementsAnalyzes and reviews projects requiring extensive research of internal or external data and suggests and implements suggested recommendations to assist in making rational business decisionsReviews and concludes on transactions for appropriate accounting treatmentReviews technical or new accounting issues and the associated accompanying memo with responsibility for final conclusion.Creates new internal accounting corporate policies and maintains existing policiesPrepares and reviews items to be included in our SEC filingsReviews month-end reconciliations for critical accounting mattersLeads numerous special projects and provides information to appropriate management personnelProvides assistance to ensure tax, audit, and accounting expectations and obligations are fulfilled accurately by required deadlinesInitiates, drives, and completes cross-functional work with other teams across the organizationMonitors emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountabilityHandles escalated vendor, customer, and other internal inquiriesContributes to team effort by accomplishing other tasks as needed and other projects as assigned by managementDemonstrates and applies strong accounting knowledge, acumen, and advanced technical expertisePeople ManagementMay manage a team of employeesProvides employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities including leadership development to enhance their skills, motivation, and performanceMaintains an atmosphere of respect, mutual support, flexibility, continuous learning, good humor, and commitment to business goals and customer needs to fulfill the company visionMatches staff skills and talent to tasks to ensure optimal engagement and performanceRewards superior team and individual performance in ways that enhance employee engagement, commitment, and satisfactionManages operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, performance management, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actionsIdentifies and resolves interpersonal conflicts and resource issuesWhat You'll NeedSkillsAbility to interpret contracts and policies to ensure items are implemented accuratelyAdvanced technical accounting skills and proficiency with financial systems requiredMust be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects, processes, programs, and procedures simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlinesStrong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and drive teams to deliver world-class services and high-impact resultsStrong communication and collaborative skills to work with many personalities inside and outside of the companyPositive and professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments and job levels.Experience7+ years of accounting experience or equivalent3+ years of accounting leadership experience or equivalentEducationBachelor’s degree in accounting is strongly preferredCPA certification is preferredTravel RequirementMinimal travelWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsReliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.How You’ll Be Rewarded:Salary range in the US: $126,000.00 - $214,000.00A discretionary bonus typically paid annuallyRestricted Stock Units granted at time of hire401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits packageThe salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
