We are growing our Audio Platform Engineering team to explore opportunities in a wide range of audio applications and deliver on an expanding product roadmap. The Audio Platform Engineering team develops complete audio systems made up of any number of loudspeakers working in concert to create specific sound experiences. Systems utilize all existing and newly developed Sonos devices in applications such as home theater, spatial audio, residential music, and commercial applications. From the lens of sound experiences, the team drives technology development, loudspeaker/array specifications, system DSP, acoustic requirements, and systems level tunings in concert with product development teams. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.Basic QualificationsA BS or MS in audio engineering, acoustics, electrical engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, or an equivalent disciplineDeep knowledge in audio system design, integration, commissioning, and tuningExperience and hands-on knowledge of complex audio system set-up and evaluation Demonstrated ability to develop audio system DSP including professional open architecture platforms (Q-sys, Soundweb, Sigma Studio,etc.) as well as more custom code based platformsExperience and knowledge of system acoustics including: loudspeaker/loudspeaker interaction, loudspeaker/room interaction, theoretical and practical room acoustics, and loudspeaker arraying design and executionA solid understanding of audio formats including consumer and commercial use of mono, stereo, spatial audio, and cinematic forms (includes but not limited to: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Sony 360, 7.1, 5.1). Decisive, action-oriented team player who learns quickly, drives innovation, and takes ownership of open issuesExperience with a variety of acoustic test equipment such as Smaart, EASERA, SysTune, CLIO, or similarExperience using simulation tools such as EASE, MatLab, COMSOL, etc. to model and predict audio system performanceExcellent critical listening skillsPersonal passion for sound experiences from all forms of media.At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience.
