As the EMEA Health and Safety (H&S) Lead – Retail, you will be responsible for assisting with the delivering the global H&S strategy, GDC standards Health & Safety management within the Equinix EMEA construction projects.*As of Quarter 4 2022 Job Summary:The EMEA Health and Safety (H&S) Lead – Retail, is responsible for providing strategic and operational support across the EMEA functional hubs (North / South), with a primary focus on the EMEA Retail portfolio. S/he is accountable for monitoring and reporting compliance and performance with the Global H&S strategy on monthly and quarterly basis, translating the objectives into operational delivery plan(s). Accountable for H&S consultants monitoring of Retail and where required xScale projects against their scope of service, working collaboratively with EQIX project teams and our delivery partners, vendors and EQIX Operations team(s) pre and post RFS. Manages and builds relationship with Senior leadership within the region, embedding the Equinix Safety 6 standards, working closely with the GDC H&S Global Director to drive and maintain a prevention culture across the business.Builds and maintains relationship with Senior leadership within the region. Tracks and reports on compliance within the EMEA region Retail portfolio. Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for all construction H&S programme related subjects, assisting the EMEA H&S Lead with overall ownership of compliance of those subjects within the region.Primary Responsibilities:To assist with the development, management and implementation of agreed processes and procedures through the Equinix GDC business, inc. Supply chain partners and vendors in accordance with GDC policy, principles, and standards.To position, promote and protect the Equinix brand in relation to health & safety, enabling the full roll out the strategic ‘Create, Develop, Achieve, Inspire’ pillars and reporting on their compliance in all respects.Supports the EMEA H&S Lead, Construction Health & Safety in the development and delivery of the functional strategic objectives, actions and performance metrics.To enable the assessment, management, and mitigation of risk in accordance with regulation and best practice.Develop the regional H&S training plan and support the roll out of modules.Works collaboratively with the Operations Compliance function in the pursuit of continuous improvement and seamless handover pre / post RFS.Engagement & influence of identified business and industry stakeholders inc. Key clients and subsidiaries.Socializes change with peers or other stakeholders.Timely and effective escalation of non-compliance, incidents and any other situation that has the likelihood of causing reputational damage to Equinix, its customers and or 3rd parties.This role requires frequent travel across the EMEA hubs and countries. Secondary ResponsibilitiesThe management and co-ordination of consultancy service delivery.Reviewing service level agreements to ensure appropriate client compliance Collect and analyse project inspections. Trend, share learning and target future assurance activities.Manage and ensure the close out of findings and areas of improvementCreation and management of an international Legal RegisterThe direct management of all project compliance assurance activities and reporting, to agreed standards and timescales.Providing project team support and advice.Influencing the development and implementation of the project’s health and safety strategy.Manage the performance of supply chain partners, supporting and influencing the reporting, investigation and sharing of lessons learnt from incidents.Providing support regarding functional expertise input into the project team decisions. Responsible for representing Equinix on matters appertaining to health and safety.Providing specialist knowledge and experience of delivering large scale infrastructure projects.Delivery of expert support on topics relating to safe by design / construction / operational / maintenance issues by liaising with designers, construction contractors and specialists.Leading, influencing and support the development and implementation of project health and safety risk profiling.Support the implementation of programmes to develop safety leadership behaviours, our people and supply chain engagement with the safety value and promote safety culture.Support and influence the programme leadership and delivery teams together with the supply chain partners to ensure the effective health and safety management of the project.Competencies and BehavioursExcellent knowledge of health and safety legislation, guidance and other industry requirements in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa Excellent tactical skills, self-awareness, communication and presenting skills Business level English is required, with a second European language (Dutch / French / German / Spanish etc) is desirable Competent in the use of MS 365 software toolsAble to challenge, influencing and mediate to deliver results in high pressure environmentsGravitas and Resilience Qualifications:Level 6 qualification e.g. BSc / MSc degree / Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or equivalent and operational experience. 10+ years of construction, developer, or high-risk industry H&S experience is preferred.Recognized HSE professional qualifications and professional memberships appropriate for the roleExperience:Familiar with standard H&S concepts, practices, and procedures across a regional portfolioProven ability to work through other functions and personnel to deliver goals and objectives in a matrix organisational structure Strong communication and presentation skills required, with ability to influence and drive new ideas at the executive level.Self-starter with demonstrable experience of ensuring policy and standards are enforcedEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
