This role will report into the Platform Product Management organization. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Product Manager to join our team to build and grow a seamless global billing experience for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the billing platform and services for our cloud-based products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, sales, and customer support, to ensure that our billing platform meets customer needs, drives revenue growth, and delivers a best-in-class customer experience. You will bring thought leadership based on your hands-on, industry experience in defining SaaS-based billing systems and modern cloud-based business models, preferably in a SaaS billing vendor and/or cloud infrastructure company. You possess deep experience managing billing systems which have a track record of enabling global companies to run multi-million-dollar businesses. You have successfully solved how a modern cloud infrastructure and platform operates, generates value for customers, and is consumed by users through a self-service try-before-buy experience. Responsibilities Develop and execute the product vision and strategy for cloud billing and champion the effort to build a massively scalable billing service to support hundreds of products in a rapidly growing cloud businessGather and refine product requirements, create product roadmaps, and work cross-functionally to execute delivery of our cloud billing platformClosely collaborate with engineering teams to develop and deliver the billing platform and services, ensuring high-quality, scalable and timely delivery, that meets the needs of our internal and external customersServe as the subject matter expert on cloud billing and be able to articulate the value proposition of our billing platform to internal and external stakeholdersWork closely with various product leaders and other key stakeholders to understand product pricing models and influence a platform approach towards enabling customer-friendly cloud-based consumption models, compliant with industry standardsPartner with customer support teams to ensure that customer inquiries and issues related to billing are addressed quickly and effectivelyInfluence and align with various cross-functional teams including finance, legal, revenue operations, GTM and executives towards a commercial model relevant for Equinix’s digital product portfolioConduct market research to identify customer needs and trends and translate findings into product requirements. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities for innovation and differentiationContinuously evaluate and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the billing platform, and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization Provide regular updates to senior management on the performance of the cloud billing platform, and be accountable for meeting usage and adoption goals Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred 10+ years of experience in product management of a SaaS, PaaS, and/or IaaS/cloud infrastructure service, with a focus on billing or financial systems Verifiable experience in defining SaaS based billing systems, preferably in a SaaS billing vendor, with experience in managing billing applications that enabled companies to run multi-billion-dollar businessesIn-depth knowledge, based on real-world experience, enabling and supporting a variety of pricing models, such as pay-per-use, subscription-based, tiered pricing, and complex pricing structures that may vary based on usage levels, time periods, discounts, promotions, or other factorsMust have deep experience with automated billing, payment processing, and invoicing ideally with direct experience of IaaS or PaaSStrong understanding of cloud computing technologies and architectures and their associated billing models and methods Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, marketing, and customer supportProven track record of delivering successful products that drive revenue growthExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organizationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and be comfortable with ambiguity and changeThe targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $160,00 to $273,000Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. This position may be offered in other locations.
