SPACE SYSTEMS
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in Rocket Lab’s evolution into an end-to-end space company that delivers launch, spacecraft, and on-orbit operations. The Space Systems Division is shaping Rocket Lab’s future with Photon, our brand of high-performance satellites, enabling innovative missions in low Earth orbit and beyond including missions for NASA to LEO, the Moon, and Mars and commercial customers including leading the design and manufacture of 17 high power telecommunication spacecraft buses for Globalstar.
QUALITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER II
Based out of Rocket Lab's Headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Quality Systems Engineer II is responsible for the development and implementation of business systems, processes, and tools to ensure quality is built into every aspect of our products and embedded throughout the entire value stream in compliance with AS9100.You will support the Quality Manager and Production organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Develop, implement, maintain and improve Rocket Lab business standards, processes and quality procedures ensuring completion, accuracy and compliance to AS9100
Conducts continuous improvement activities to enhance the Quality Management System through waste elimination . Identify non-value added activities and propose method improvements
Review internal/external customer requirements and apply quality systems to meet contractual specifications
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or material sciences engineering, or similar engineering discipline
3+ years in a quality, manufacturing, or systems engineering role.
Extensive experience with quality management systems standards (AS9100 and ISO 9001)
Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Metrology, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, or various problem-solving approaches.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
AS9100 ASQ Certification
Experience supporting production of complex electro-mechanical or mechanical systems in high volume work centers and/or during production ramp-up.
Proven track record of year on year product and process improvement activities.
Has successfully introduced new product to the shop floor having been part of the design and process development process.
Conducted both process and design FMEAs which has resulted in substantial reduction of risk and design changes.
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. In addition to base salary, Rocket Lab offers a comprehensive total compensation offer package based on individual qualifications and experience, including company stock. Employees will also be eligible for medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan options, and to purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab's Employee Stock Purchase Program. Base Pay Range (CA Only) $90,000 — $103,000 USD
