Galway Office
Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019. Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth.
The Galway office is Rent the Runway's first international office outside the US and enables the company to significantly expand its Software Engineering, Product Development, Machine Learning Engineering and Data Science footprint. Rent The Runway’s Galway-based employees have the opportunity to grow their careers across several roles and career paths in Technology.

About the Job:
You’ll be working with the Customer & Order Management Engineering Team focused on services responsible for e-commerce and order management functionality . You’ll improve the architecture, functionality, quality and continuous delivery of the service and it’s subsystems. You’ll build robust services that uphold the financial integrity of our commerce data. You’ll evolve the services to scale with the business and adapt to changes in business direction, including our push to maintain cloud stability and a leader in the circular economy.
What You'll Do:
You’ll work to evolve our e-commerce platform, building clear domain models of orders, invoices, and payments.
You’ll ensure financial data is clean, complete, accurate and delivered to downstream systems.
You’ll build intuitive and well tested APIs for manipulating orders post-checkout.
You’ll deprecate and remove services that no longer suit our needs.
Drive technical projects to success and provide mentorship in a fast-paced startup environment
Contribute technically to projects by being a hands-on coder and removing roadblocks
Assist in prioritisation efforts, planning future roadmaps, and providing mentorship to others
Our engineering team working in the following stack of technologies which you will have the opportunity to deepen or upskill your knowledge of: Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, MySql, Mongo, RabbitMQ/Kinesis, Dropwizard, Spring Boot, React, Bootstrap, Splunk, Splunk Cloud, SignalFX, GCP.
About you:
BA/BS in Computer Science, a related degree, or equivalent professional development experience
High level of comfort working in Java or another JVM language or Python
SQL, with Hibernate or other JPA vendor framework advantageous
Working knowledge of Kubernetes/GCP/AWS
Experience in modern frameworks and design patterns ( Spring MVC or REST or Swagger/OpenAPI )
A strong command of best practices, design patterns, and system architecture tradeoffs
Ability to understand, diagnose, and effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
High level of comfort navigating ambiguity and make the tradeoffs without compromising quality
The ideal candidate will have previous experience with cloud migration
