The opportunity:
We’re growing rapidly, and with the expanding capabilities of our platform, we want to create tailored products and solutions for small to midsize businesses (SMBs). As we enter our next phase of growth, we are looking for a driven, intellectually curious and sales minded Business Development Manager to help us develop relationships with external partners and manage our pipeline of products, features and services. You will have a unique opportunity to jointly build offerings with e-commerce, tech, and retail partners, as well as influence the internal product roadmap. We will rely on your deep knowledge of the customer to prioritize and manage trade-offs across products and features. Lastly, you will be integral in defining and measuring performance of customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty to inform learnings, best practices, and opportunities for optimization.
You will:
Develop relationships with external tech, retail, and e-commerce partners to jointly consult with customers and design solutions for small to midsize businesses (SMBs) to support their end-to-end logistics needs
Define and communicate Flexport’s value proposition for SMBs with internal account executives and external partners to ensure consistent sales communication across all stakeholders
Manage and coordinate the execution of multiple product offerings, features, initiatives, and services, supporting leadership with prioritization, trade offs, and timelines.
Set goals and measure performance of initiatives and solutions in terms of customer acquisition, retention and loyalty to influence and scale learnings and iterate product offerings
Negotiate and close new opportunities with key partners to drive shared value for Flexport, our partners, and our customers
Collaborate with Flexport’s client operations teams to identify upsell opportunities, source pipeline, and develop strategic account plans
Communicate with leadership and cross-functional teams on status and progress of key partner relationships and performance on external platforms
You should have:
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a customer facing sales/business development role, product management, management consulting, or program management.
Competitive and creative drive to win over customers and think outside the box to get a deal done
Demonstrated ability to run a sales meeting and structured sales process
Proven success building and maintaining long term commercial relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience presenting to C-level executives
A passion for pursuing new and bold ideas within the context of business priorities
The ability to quickly identify, prioritize, and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines
Experience problem-solving within multi-faceted and complex systems
Experience negotiating with third-party providers of products and services
An analytical mindset: you know how to define success, measure against it and learn from failure
An obsession with client happiness. You succeed when they succeed.
