MINT MOBILE is  seeking a talented Database Reliability Engineer (DRE) to join the TechOps Team ! Individual reports to Senior Manager, DRE. Role is remote -  must reside in the United States .   ABOUT THE ROLE As a Database Reliability Engineer , you have the mind of a developer and the soul of a database administrator. You are the guardian angel of our systems infrastructure. You have no trouble communicating your take on problems that arise. Automation and database administration are in your DNA, and you have the blood test to prove it. (Or maybe just the experience. That works, too.) Your usual day of awesomeness includes:   Maintain the core infrastructure and drive reliability across our databases of our database systems. Provide technical guidance to development teams, understand the impact of code changes, and help developers write efficient queries. Define and meet service level objectives. Provide operational support for existing database infrastructure. Tune database performance for application and resiliency needs. Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the current data infrastructure. Architect scalable, reliable solutions for business requirements. Investigate production incidents, help determine contributing factors, implement fixes, and write blameless postmortems. Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. Create documentation and diagrams of systems and processes. Review the changes to the databases through our SDLC. Technologies You’ll Work With SQL (MySQL/MSSQL/PgSQL) NoSQL (Elasticsearch/Redis/DynamoDB) Redshift, Snowflake DMS, AWS Glue Bitbucket, GIT, CI/CD tools Terraform AWS (Lambdas, EC2, Kinesis, S3, Route53, RDS, and many others) Datadog, Jira Docker, Kubernetes Web servers (Apache/Nginx/Varnish) NodeJS, Golang, Python Configuration Management tools like Ansible. HTTP, TLS/SSL Linux Network routing and firewalls. WHAT YOU BRING Bachelor's Degree preferred. 4+ years of MySql and/or MSSQL experience. 2+ years of AWS experience. 4+ years of maintaining system infrastructure. 4+ years of operational support. Ability to communicate complex business and technical challenges in a clear and concise manner. Experience with running databases (SQL + NoSQL) in AWS and/or hybrid environments. Experience with query and database performance tuning. Knowledge of database best practices (schema management, index optimization). Exposure to NoSQL database technologies such as DynamoDB. Knowledge of Amazon EC2/RDS (Aurora). Experience with Creating and maintaining ETL code (SSIS, AWS Glue or Talend). Ability to collaborate with architects, developers and the business on database design decisions. Should be familiar with coding languages such as Golang, Python, Node.js, PHP. Ability to use multiple scripting or compiled languages. Good understanding of Linux systems. Monitoring/Alarming distributed systems. Advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation skills. Understanding of system and network security best practices. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Participate in recurring daily stand-ups and grooming meetings and drive tickets to resolution.
