If you are excited about delivering high performance scalable solutions that protects Fortune 500 companies and stops the bad guys, this is the place for you.As a Staff Software Engineer on the Digital Risk and Compliance team, you will be focused on the back-end systems that power our industry leading products focused on Social, Mobile and Web security and compliance. These highly sophisticated systems are responsible for protecting the social channels of some of the largest brands in the world, as well as monitoring the mobile and web presences of many of those same brands. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding team player with a positive attitude, and high energy, to help us deliver state-of-the-art products. Your day-to-dayLead efforts to design, implement software and support systems using industry best-practicesCollaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problemsBuild automation tooling to help monitor production systemsAddress customer reported bugs and provide production supportDrive usage of best application patterns, technologies, and practicesDesign highly scalable and resilient applicationsMentor team membersWhat you bring to the teamWhen it comes to hiring, we value attitude and aptitude over number of years of experience with any specific tool or technology. We assume you know how to code; we’re much more interested in how you design, collaborate, and deliver. Having said that, we are generally looking for the following skills and experience.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study7+ years of demonstrated experience building consumer-facing software products, with 2+ years leading technical direction for a team of engineersExcellent coding experience with programming languages preferably Golang and RubyUnderstanding of highly distributed architectureExperience working with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra)Experience working with secured APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc)Cloud computing experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)Experience working with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, etc)Strong experience working with agile development teamsUnderstanding of best practices in database design, data architecture, and performance tuningExcellent communication, planning and organizational skillsAbility to mentor others on best practicesWhy ProofpointAs a customer focused and driven-to-win organization with leading edge products, there are many exciting reasons to join the Proofpoint team.
