We have a genuine passion for product delivery, constant customer feedback, and a penchant for more intuitive customer experiences!About the RoleAs the Principal Software Engineer in Workday’s Productivity Technology team, you will help build a new capability for the team's content authoring platform to add new text AI Generation capabilities, impacting Workday's entire range of products from HCM to Financials. You will be part of an initiative to use emerging technologies around large language models to deliver these capabilities.  This role is an unique opportunity to join a team in its early formative stages and help guide future Architecture, tooling & hiring decisions with the aim to deliver new Enterprise capabilities reaching millions of users. About YouYou are a hands-on technical leader with enthusiasm for team success. You are a self-starter who can collaborate with a team of like-minded team members in delivering customer value at a high iterative cadence. You have awareness of emerging industry practices, and have talent for creating usable, scalable, well-tested software. You want to work in a highly collaborative, agile, and respectful environment. You love learning new technologies, languages, tools, and you have a passion for building frameworks. You are equally comfortable with Front end UI development and Server-side development on public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).Basic Qualifications8+ years of professional software development experienceHigh proficiency with Java/Kotlin, Python with a working understanding of UI languages/frameworks (Typescript, Javascript and React ). You have deep multidisciplinary and multi-language development skills including Python and Java, along with experience leveraging public cloud technologies (AWS).  Enterprise experience in Architecting and deploying systems that run at large scale.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent fieldsOther QualificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when it comes to conveying technical concepts to audiences at all levelsAbility to mentor and learn from other team members through pairing, code reviews, and documentation.Experience with major architectural bodies of work within a front-end applications and building UI component librariesYou can set best practices for development of software at scale, deep knowledge of software development patterns, Experience with monitoring and performance analysis and code quality metrics coupled with a drive for code quality and encouraging peers to elevate their craftAn unbridled curiosity and interest in problem solving and iterative developmentConstant drive to complete projects and to overcome roadblocks with positivity and creativityHands-on experience with crafting robust unit tests and working with continuous integration and deployment pipelinesAs a federal contractor, Workday is requiring all new hires to verify that they are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 within 72 hours of beginning employment with Workday, consistent with applicable law. Workday is an equal opportunity employer. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
