The ideal candidate loves working with peers and leaders to mine for insights that drive elegant solutions to tough problems.In this role, you will work within the Design org, alongside partners from Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Analytics and other core teams to ensure your research team is optimized to develop key insights to drive great experiences. You will support your team of dedicated Design Researchers in designing, planning, conducting, and socializing user research across a spectrum of methodologies. You are a strong influencer and promoter within and outside the Design organization, as well as an external face for eBay’s Design Research team.Responsibilities:Lead end-to-end research, spanning everything from high-level, strategic topics to evaluative researchEstablish and maintain an efficient strategy for scoping research, execution and dissemination of insights to ensure alignment and action across organizational boundaries and disciplinesBe vocal, assertive and persuasive working with cross-functional teams and work with them to ​identify and prioritize impactful research opportunitiesMonitor the impact of insights generated by the team and take part in the always-growing Design Research practice at eBayEmploy storytelling techniques to communicate research insights and recommendationsRequirements:8+ years of experience in an applied user research settingDegree in Anthropology, Sociology, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors Engineering or a related fieldPractical experience in deploying qualitative and quantitative research methods throughout the product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to launchExperience drawing from a variety of research methods–interviews, observation, diary studies, prototyping, surveys, user testing and experiments–at different stages of the design process: to encourage early design work, inform the initial opportunity, collect formative feedback to support iteration and validate a go-to-market solutionAbility to solve complex problems and work with teams to ensure insights are clear, actionable and acted uponExceptional storytelling skills, experienced influencer and advocate for user researchBenefits are an essential part of your total compensation for the work you do every day. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
