As a Series A, 100M funded startup, we view ourselves as still early-stage in our long-term product journey, and there is unlimited scope for engineers to shape our future direction.   Our Platform Team is the backbone of Bubble and it’s responsible for : Our AWS infrastructure that hosts hundreds of thousands of user-built apps, on a mixture of shared and dedicated environments The compilation and deployment pipeline for our user apps, including making applications blazing fast Empowering our product engineering teams to move quickly and safely with CI/CD, test infrastructure, and stellar tooling Managing the observability, security, reliability, and cost of our cloud infrastructure   With the unique challenges involved in building and hosting user-written no code applications, we view our platform as an essential strategic investment. We have a lot of challenges and opportunities ahead of us as we transform our current infrastructure to make it scalable, robust, and high-performance.   About the role: We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Platform Team. This is an opportunity for a transformational leader to set technical direction, build an exceptional engineering culture, define processes and scale our team to build a world-class platform organization.   This year, we would like to: Scale our AWS environment from a single, “pet” shared hosting environment to multiple shared hosting environments distributed globally Overhaul the pipeline for generating the HTML/CSS/Javascript we send to clients to make page loads blazing fast Improve observability and evolve from ad-hoc infrastructure maintenance and firefighting to disciplined triage and root-cause remediation Invest in game-changing tooling and test infrastructure to accelerate product development teams Begin breaking services off our monolith as needed to support the above goals, unlocking new possibilities   You’ll have a profound influence across our Platform Team and design pod structure, drive the platform roadmap in collaboration with product, hire, and define Platform operating principles and processes.  We’re excited for our new Director to help us think strategically about the engineering org as well as a thought partner to engineering leadership on culture, process, and long-term technological strategy.    About you: 5+ years of experience managing people and teams, ideally experienced with teams of 20+ engineers 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a speciality in Infrastructure  Experience with Platform/DevOps/Infrastructure leadership in fast-paced, dynamic environments Experience building technical roadmaps and setting engineering direction Ability and interest in mentoring and learning from other Bubble engineers and managers, creating a culture of growth and collaboration Alignment with our values: a desire to empower others, a focus on team and user success over individual achievement, and transparency and willingness to admit mistakes and failures If this sounds like you, apply! Our estimated salary for this role at Bubble ranges from $210,000 to $270,000 . Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.    In addition, all Bubble employees are eligible for meaningful equity packages.
