Participants will make an impact at Workday by engaging in significant work, have access to many career growth and skill building opportunities; including networking, training, and ongoing professional development.About the RoleYour focus will be to contribute to the development, architecture, and evolution of the Peakon platform.You will be a key contributor in technical and architectural discussions within the backend engineering team, working closely with peers and engineering leads to set the technical direction for the platform.You will also work with peers, through regular code reviews and occasional pair programming.As part of the Peakon team at Workday, you'll:Be an integral member of a cross-functional team in an agile environmentCollaborate with other engineers, designers, QAs, and the team’s product manager to deliver exciting and impactful features for employees across all levels at companies who use Peakon everydayBuild features that help employees drive the change they want to see at their workplaceRegularly review and discuss other engineer’s codeContribute to architectural discussions with other engineers across all levelsUse your technical expertise to contribute towards building a best-in-class productOur TechWe make it a priority to stay on the cutting edge of tech. We are highly motivated by learning and growing in our roles, and constantly evolving is a key part of that.We believe there is great value in a shared toolchain, which is why our tech stack centers around JavaScript, with Node.js on the server and React on the frontend. To prevent runtime errors in our frontend applications, we have recently introduced TypeScript. Ultimately we believe that our tech stack needs to evolve as our industry evolves.We are hosted on AWS and we use PostgreSQL (through RDS), Redis and ElasticSearch for storage. We rely heavily on automated testing on all levels of the application, with thousands of tests checking every commit to our code base. We use Buildkite for continuous integration to make sure our most recent changes are always available to test, and we deploy code to our production environment every day.About YouBasic Qualifications1-3 years of experience with backend developmentYou have worked in a team setting, using collaborative tools for version control, code reviews and project managementCareer Returner QualificationsMust have a minimum of three years of prior professional experience and a break from their engineer career for at least one and a half years.Must be available to start August or September 2023Other QualificationsYou are familiar with a Node.js based ecosystem or willing to put in the extra work at the beginning to make the switchYou have experience building web applications with an understanding of scalability, high availability, latency and throughputYou are open to opinions of others and constructively discuss solutions to find the best one for the challenge at handYou have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English* Please note we are not offering relocation for this role.Are you being referred to one of our roles?
