About the Team
Opendoor’s design team creates residential solutions that support broad client preferences and renovations that maximize return on invested capital. We believe that space, color, materials, and light are tools to create an exceptional experience in any environment. We pursue design solutions with creativity and whimsy, while balancing speed and efficiency in our process. This position is a remote role and only open to candidates in Ontario, Canada. Position is a 1 year indefinite contract that begins upon start.
Role Responsibilities:
Collaborating with the project team to develop designs of home renovation projects including space planning, materials selection, and construction plans & documentation that generate positive client experiences and updating specifications or production drawings during design development
Assisting in the development of a scalable process & system including but not limited to:
Creating and updating training materials
Reporting & presenting on project progress
Develop efficiencies & process improvements
Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards
Skills Needed:
Basic proficiency in technical skills using AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT or similar design software.
Space planning skills and an interest in programming.
Well developed knowledge of design elements and principles.
Have a background in cabinetry or millwork design.
Knowledge of fixtures and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, color and materials to successfully carry out design intent.
Knowledge of basic construction methods, building regulations and safety codes.
Proven ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and provide high quality designs.
Ability to communicate clearly & effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to self-start, take initiative and confidently make rapid decisions when solving on site issues.
Bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, or equivalent education or experience.
3-5 years minimum of industry experience.
Bonus Points if
You have a background in cabinetry or millwork design.
Have managed accounts within the building or construction industry.
Have background in tract / mass produced home builders in material selections or with a vendor / supplier of a mass builder in design or account management.
Remote roles in Canada are only available in Ontario.
