Commissioning Lead Status: Exempt (salaried)                                                                  Department: Energy SolutionsPosition SummaryThe Commissioning Lead is responsible for facilitating all commissioning and startup activities of Plug Power’s Liquid Hydrogen Production facilities and Liquid Hydrogen transportation assets.  This position will interact with the development, project, engineering and operations team, technology providers, suppliers, permitting agencies, contractors, vendors, stakeholders to ensure facilities are built, commissioned and startup activities are completed on time and within budget. This role is vital to support Plug Power technology to further the Company’s reputation as the industry leader in hydrogen applications development. To compliment field activities, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in commissioning and start-up planning, development of work instructions, P&ID reviews, commissioning walk-down inspections, equipment checklists, plans for cleaning / flushing and run in of equipment, Design Hazard Reviews (Pre-Safety Start-up Reviews), Operational Readiness Inspections and the execution of commissioning & start-up management systems.Travel as required up to 100%.   Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain a detailed understanding of operations of electrolysis and cryogenic hydrogen liquefaction technologies.Maintain a detailed understanding of commissioning and startup activities of hydrogen liquefaction technologies.Adhere to the plant start-up, testing and commissioning standard procedures, in collaboration with engineering, operations and project management team.Ensures that plant start-up, testing and commissioning procedures are executed in a standardized method and observations/results are documented in a consistent format.Publishes original materials and continually enhances documentation surrounding the processes, procedures, responsibility matrix and tools to be used during a project’s start-up, testing and commissioning phases.Comprehends and ensures compliance with applicable environmental, interconnection, operational and engineering regulations, and standards.Capable of understanding and complying with the contractual terms outlined in various agreements and contracts.Maintain a detailed record of all testing requirements and results.Assist and guide project staff and operations in outlining commission responsibilities.Work with operations team to manage Liquid hydrogen transportation asset commissioning, inspecting, testing and startup activities.Collaborate with internal project team, as necessary.Read and interpret commission and startup documents identifying missing components and/or inaccuracies, work with suppliers and contractors to deliver a finalized product.Read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), identifying missing components and/or inaccuracies, work with suppliers and contractors to deliver a finalized product.Inspect and verify all supplied equipment meets expectations, aligns with Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) and industry standards.Assist training team members on proper safe handling of liquid hydrogen and processes.Assist training team members on proper visual / vacuum inspections required for Liquid Hydrogen transportation assets.Assist and train team members on proper OWTT/MRHT testing, labeling and documentation of liquid hydrogen transportation assets.Perform all other duties as assigned.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.Required Education and ExperienceFive (5) or more years in Engineering, operations, commissioning, or maintenance of gaseous, electrolysis or cryogenic systems.Experience with balance of plant work for a new construction project.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Superior written and oral communication skills.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Experience in leading and/or coordinating cross-functional teams.Strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills.Must be a team player with a customer-oriented mindset.Leading and mentoring of less experienced Commissioning staff.Must be driven and self-motivated.Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 100%.Preferred Skills and Experience:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited institution preferredPreferred experience with Liquified Hydrogen/Helium Manufacturing Processes and Electrolysis.Ability to read P&ID's, isometrics, interpret design curves of field machinery and function testing / validation of field equipmentThe ability to understand and the desire to learn a wide array of plant disciplines including electrical, piping, controls, instrumentation, systemsRepresent the Commissioning & Start-up Team and Plug Power in front of our stakeholders (Project, Construction, Operations, and our customers)Minimum prior experience with gas processing, cryogenics, ASU, LNG and/or refueling systems.Experience in or working with Renewable Energy (wind, hydro, or solar)Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
