Reliability Engineering SpecialistStatus: Exempt (Salaried)Department: FacilitiesPosition SummaryThe Reliability Engineering Specialist will support Plug Power’s initiative to increase Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of manufacturing equipment used to manufacture fuel cells and associated technology. This role will support development of reliability processes such as criticality assessments, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, Route Cause Analysis (RCA), etc. The person who is selected for this position will need to work closely with the facilities manager and director to develop and implement a world-class reliability program. There are significant opportunities for the ideal candidate to expand their sphere of influence and help shape the future of a growing business. This position requires the candidate to learn and understand failure modes of common facilities equipment and to create recommendations to remediate. Teaming with both the operations and maintenance teams is critical to ensuring success of the facility. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, energetic, able to handle multiple project assignments, and excited to be a part of the future of clean energy.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild preventative and predictive maintenance plans for key facility assets.Conduct RCAs on both sporadic and chronic failures and present recommendations.Work with both mechanical and electrical systems, although assignments will be tailored to candidate’s background where possible.Partner with technicians on hands-on troubleshooting.Support development of Asset Reliability work processes and integration into business workflows.Lead design changes through the enterprise change process ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.Help develop technician training and development plan.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfaction.Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.Education and ExperienceBachelor of Science preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, General), relevant technical field of study and/or competitive experience considered of maintenance and/or reliability experience considered.5+ years of related work history within maintenance or reliability in a manufacturing environment.Certifications in reliability methodologies or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)/Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookExcellent verbal and written communication skillsTeamwork-oriented and focusedAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levelsDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExceptional task-oriented follow-throughMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityMust be driven and self-motivatedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.
