Director of Project DevelopmentJoin our hydrogen team to build the first generation of commercial-scale green-hydrogen production plants in North America and kickoff the next major step in decarbonization of the economy focused on elimination of fossil fuel use in transportation and industry. In this role you will manage complex projects that bring together renewable energy, hydrogen production and liquefaction technology, energy firming strategies, water, and logistics to create the next level project development. You will help build a pipeline by sourcing new projects and then take those projects through to full commissioning and deliver them to our operations team to supply green hydrogen to Plug Power’s customers.In this role, you will help build out a project development team and define how hydrogen project development is performed.What you’ll do:Manage development activities of utility-scale diverse renewable energy projects typically in coordination with our energy developer partners from feasibility, through construction to commissioningResponsible for all development activities within eastern or western US region including high level negotiations and independent decision makingCoordinate energy assessment, environmental, permitting, transmission interconnection, land acquisition, and design activitiesEnsure projects are progressing on schedule and within budgetObtain local project permits and tax agreementsSelect, manage, and direct third party consultants and review their reportsEngage with energy developers, landowners, and stakeholders to provide information throughout the development processPerform project energy, operational and financial modelingEvaluate viability of early stage and acquisition projectsConduct site visits to define site characteristics and develop relationships with local stakeholdersRepresent company in industry advocacy groupsRemain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of hydrogen and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers.Represent Plug Power at national hydrogen and renewable energy events as speaker, panelist and green hydrogen leader.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.What you bring:Minimum 15 years of project development experience in renewable energy.Bachelors degree required. Focus in Engineering, Business Administration or Economics preferred.Proven record of accomplishment in renewable energy development, including experience taking projects through commissioning.Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects.Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks. Track record of successfully working with public officials to obtain development permits, tax abatements, etc.Working knowledge of technical development disciplines, including interconnection, resource assessment, turbine operation, GIS, etc.General understanding of market trends and resulting impacts on project development.Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including energy partners, landowners, government officials, and corporate leaders.Pay Rate:$106,849.00 - $170,958.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
