About the Role:
Our software company, headquartered in the United States, is a leading provider of cutting-edge Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Data technology solutions. With a global presence, we are expanding our operations in India and are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, People & Places to lead and manage our HR function for our India team.
As a Director on the People & Places team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with our overall business objectives in India. You will lead a team of 1 other HR professional, and work closely with the leadership team to ensure that HR initiatives are integrated into the business operations and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals. You will also provide strategic guidance and consultation to senior management on all HR matters, and ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. You should be able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, build relationships with key stakeholders, and present complex HR information in a clear, concise, and service-oriented manner.
HR Strategy and Planning : Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with Demandbase’s business goals and objectives. Collaborate with senior management to anticipate HR needs and proactively develop plans to address them. Provide strategic guidance on retention and development strategies.
HR Operations : Oversee all aspects of HR-India operations, including new hire onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management and employee engagement initiatives. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that are compliant with local labor laws and regulations.
Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including performance issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Foster a positive work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ensures fair and consistent treatment of employees.
Employee Retention : Help develop and implement employee retention programs, including career development plans and succession planning.
Benefits : Assist the VP of Total ReWARDS (based in the US) in developing and implementing benefits programs that align with the local market practices.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, including employment contracts, statutory benefits, and reporting requirements. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that are compliant with local laws and regulations. Mitigate HR-related risks by identifying potential issues and implementing appropriate measures to prevent or address them.
HR Analytics and Reporting : Develop and maintain HR metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives. Prepare regular reports for senior management on HR metrics, trends, and insights. Use data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making.
Change Management: With the ever-changing business environment, you should be able to lead and manage change initiatives effectively.
Ethics and Integrity: You will be responsible for upholding ethical standards and ensuring that HR policies and practices comply with legal requirements and company values.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 continuous years of experience managing an HR function at a US-based software company is required
A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and regulations, with experience in managing HR operations in India.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with business goals and objectives.
Strong expertise in talent acquisition, retention, and development strategies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to use data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making.
Willingness and ability to travel to the US as needed (generally not more than 1-2 times/year).
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field. Master's degree in HR or MBA preferred.
