Data Engineering DirectorDescription -The Data Architecture & Governance team focuses on advancing data architecture and engineering patterns that lead to better quality, stability, and privacy for our enterprise data. The Director, Data Engineering will lead the Data Engineering practice - redesign, build, deploy core data warehouses, and data marts for financial closing, best in class data patterns, and data operating models. This position reports to the Head of Data Architecture & Governance.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, care for, and grow teams of customer-focused software and data engineers.Thoughtfully organize and unblock collaboration and partnership at multiple levels, across business groups and functions to achieve the organizational mission.Partner closely with Product Management, Technical Program Managers, Architects, HP product groups, and experts to envision, drive, and deliver innovative, compelling, and quality solutions at speed and scale.Translates functional plans into operational processes and strategically guides executionEngage with Architects and broader HP technology excellence communities to provide technical vision and strategy for the teams; design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, balancing short- and long-term technology investments.Knowledge & SkillsAdept at influencing teams and employees through subordinate managers.Analytical and problem solving skills influence the business unit.Leads management of human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.Advanced communication skills catered to a variety of internal and external audiences (e.g. written, verbal, presentation).Expert multi-tasking and prioritization skills.Advanced understanding and influence of HP's policies and processes.Scope & ImpactImpacts efficiencies and delivery times across all software teams, takes responsibility for the quality of deliveries.Proactively and effectively interacts and partners across different departments within and outside the software engineering function.Decisions will have a critical impact of up to 3+ years on the overall success of the function or multiple departments.ComplexityHigh: Extensive cross-functional/cross-organizational senior management interface; deals with complex strategic issues.Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, and techniques.
