This role will support the organization in achieving the mission to enable a data-driven culture by making high-quality data products and solutions available to customers, partners, and HP internal teams.In the Customer Reporting & Analytics organization, we need a curious spirit, a self-motivated and data-driven person with knowledge and understanding of the end customer data and its operational lifecycle to translate the business requirements into data requirements for sustainable BI development.Job Description:The Business Intelligence Engineer with the Contractual Customer Reporting & Analytics team applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team member or project leader, providing direction to team activities and facilitating information validation and team decision-making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.Responsibilities: Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of the overall architecture of the product or solution.Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.Leads a project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for assigned systems portions or subsystems.Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.Represents the software systems engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects. In addition, provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.Typically, 4-8 years of experience.Knowledge and Skills: Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languagesGood knowledge ofExperience with any BI tools (Looker, ThoughtSpot, PowerBI, Tableau)Database: AWS Redshift, Postgres SQL (Nice to have - Snowflake)Infrastructure components - GitHub, JIRAExcellent at building performant and scalable visualization platformNon-functional aspects of performance, scalability, debuggability, monitoring, cyber-security, etc.Working knowledge of cloud services. Excellent troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of AWS's well-architected frameworkShould have strong SQL knowledge and experienceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to understand and provide input on software designs and patternsAbility to understand software systems testing methodology, including writing/executing test plans, debugging, and development of test automation scripts & tools.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
