The HP Human Rights team oversees human rights due diligence by driving risk sensing and assessments as well as supporting other business functions that have the potential to impact human rights. The Engagement Manager is responsible for developing human rights prevention, mitigation and remediation strategies, to improve company performance in human rights.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as the strategic expert on human rights response including prevention, mitigation and remediation strategies.Lead the strategy and implementation of the company-wide global human rights response framework.Support the effective flow of information for inclusion in human rights management and response efforts.Provide information and insight to inform supplier performance metrics.Establish and maintain contact with industry bodies and civil society to inform the business and refine strategies.Identify, select and manage third party partners (including civil society partners) with requisite expertise to support the response program. This includes developing terms of reference, managing partner engagements, and budgets.Draft reports relating to human rights actions taken and the effectiveness of those actions. Collate and distribute key learnings to continuously improve business performance.Support annual sustainability external reporting in collaboration with communications and other team members/business divisions.Provide expert thought leadership with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may also provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor as required.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Sociology, Development Studies or International Relations . A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.Work Experience:A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, law or related area is required.Experience in human rights monitoring, reporting and/or investigating.Knowledge and Skills Required:In-depth knowledge of fundamental human rights principles, laws, and regulations.Expert level knowledge of human rights regulations related to corporations, and supply chain.A high level of professionalism/integrity and ability to work with sensitive and confidential matters.A self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.Preferred Skills:Knowledge of Supply chain operations e2e process (systems, structures, and processes to plan and execute the flow of goods and services from supplier to customer).Experience integrating human rights standards into core business practices within a multinational corporation.Language:Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another language relevant to the Asia region is an advantage.Other:Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.Demonstrated experience working with diverse and geographically dispersed team members, all levels of management, and external stakeholders.Willingness to travel as needed.Sustainable impact is HP’s commitment to create positive, lasting change for the planet, its people, and our communities.
