R&D Hardware Design EngineerDescription -As a member of our R&D Hardware Design team you will have the opportunity to apply your mechanical engineering knowledge to solve a variety of challenging and interesting engineering problems. Our team is responsible for designing multiple printer products and product lines, spanning the entire consumer printer portfolio. Part design opportunities may include plastic injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, elastomer parts, and other technologies. System design opportunities may include geartrains, precision drive systems, and electromechanical control algorithms.  You will take advantage of rapid prototyping technologies, including the latest in multi-jet fusion technology, in the development and validation of your designs prior to having high volume tooling created. You will also use a combination of lab data and customer field data to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs. In addition, we’re looking for an early career candidate who: Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action; follows established guidelines and interprets policies; and evaluates unique circumstances and makes recommendations.Responsibilities: Designs portions of engineering solutions for mechanical and thermal hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established engineering fundamentals and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.Develops and implements parameters and test plans for existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, system power measurements & acoustics.Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners on mechanical design and development.Participates as a member of project team of other mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions.Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.Typically 2-4 years experience.Knowledge and Skills: Using Creo Elements Direct Modelling or other 3D CAD software as a mechanical design tool.Ability to apply investigative and problem-solving skills.Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.HP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:•  Dental insurance•  Disability insurance•  Employee assistance program•  Flexible schedule•  Flexible spending account•  Health insurance•  Life insurance Per the Washington statute, the estimated range of compensation for this job in Vancouver, at the time of this posting, is $85,500 to $104,500.  This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.#LI-POSTJob -EngineeringSchedule -Full timeShift -No shift premium (United States of America)Travel -Relocation -YesEEO Tagline - HP Inc. is EEO F/M/Protected Veteran/ Individual with Disabilities.
