At HP, the future is yours to create!As a PhD Economics Intern in the Pricing Analytics team, you will have a chance to:Apply statistical methods to analyze the effect of pricing and sales decisions on business performanceExperience building and interpreting pricing models on real business dataPresent the results and the corresponding recommendations to the relevant stakeholders, including senior leadershipDevelop and implement frameworks and processes for systematic data analysisSynthesize and apply current academic literature from econometrics and industrial organizations to real business problemsImmerse yourself in very large data sets and complex problemsDevelop tools to automate, ingest, merge, and clean datasetsQualificationsInterest in pricing, industrial organization, discrete choice, and/or demand estimationScientific thinking and ability to design and critically analyze quantitative researchAbility to think creatively about research problems and invent original solutions to modelling challengesProficiency with R or Python is requiredAbility to translate academic models/algorithms to proof-of-concept codeStrong analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPointExcellent written and verbal communication skillsNice-To-Haves:Experience working with large data setsExperience scaling algorithms to new domainsFamiliarity with reinforcement learning (e.g., bandit algorithms)Proficiency with SQLExperience working in or collaborating with industryExperience creating data visualizationsScope & ImpactCollaborates with peers, engineers, data scientists and project teamEducation & ExperienceCurrent PhD candidate (Economics, Computer Science, Management, Operations Research, Data Science or related field)Job -AdministrationSchedule -Full timeShift -No shift premium (United States of America)Travel -NoRelocation -Not SpecifiedEEO Tagline - HP Inc. is EEO F/M/Protected Veteran/ Individual with Disabilities.
