R&D Firmware Integration EngineerDescription -Directs the activities related to the analysis, design, programming, debugging, troubleshooting, and modification of software for firmware (IC embedded code) applications. Oversees programming activities involving analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. May have responsibility for the programming of assembly language, machine language and high level languages, including but not limited to C and C++. Frequently coordinates with multiple partner across organizations to deliver complete system solutions to a platform and/or project.Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:• Design and develop specific modules for printer subsystems• Work closely with multi-discipline functions to analyze design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on architecture of product.• Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.• Leads a project team of other firmware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution• Represents the firmware engineering team for all phases of larger and more- complex development projects• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff membersKnowledge & Skills- Good knowledge and working experience in embedded firmware development in RTOS environment- Practical experience in C/C++ programming language is essential- Understanding of Python scripting is beneficial- Experience in various phases of the software development lifecycle- Good understanding of source code management system (SVN, GIT, BitKeeper)- Good oral and written communication skills- Experience in programming in Linux Operating System is an advantage- Has a passion for R&D work and enjoys working in a diverse team- Knowledge in user interface design is an advantage- Expertise in multiple firmware design tools and languages.- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.- Designing firmware, including interaction and integration with hardware design.- Firmware testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.Scope & Impact• Decisions and actions typically impact multiple departments and may have downstream repercussions lasting multiple weeks• Works closely with architects and technology leads, directly engaging with internal and external software development teamsComplexity• Moderate: Some senior management interface; frequent cross-functional/cross-organizational interaction on execution of tactics• Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.Education & Experience• Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Engineering/Science, Electronics Engineering or related disciplines. Embedded System specialization will be an added advantage. Typically 4-6 years of relevant experience.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $101,500 to $138,050 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
