Backend DeveloperDescription -# Senior Back-end Developer - Python* Position: Full time* Location: Cambridge, UK## Position SummaryWe are looking for an experienced back-end web developer to join ourengineering team in Cambridge. You will be working on the HP Wolf SecurityCloud Service - a web-based platform to manage our security software productsthat are installed on end-user PCs (see https://www.hpwolf.com/). The jobcovers:* The API and UI back-end (Python, Django, Django REST Framework)* The background worker service / task queues (Celery, Dramatiq)* Container-based packaging (Linux, Nginx, PostgreSQL, Docker)* Supporting operational deployment using AWS (S3, ECS, RDS, etc.)* Integrations with other cloud systems (Elastic/Kibana, Salesforce,   InterWorks, Azure, other internal HP systems)* Maintaining product compatibility for customers' self-hosted, on-premise   servers (Windows, IIS, SQL Server)* Unit tests, Playwright/Selenium tests, automated installation tests, static   code analysis, anything else we can have the CI system (Jenkins) do for usThe HP Wolf Security Cloud Service is composed of several different servicesthat serve various roles in the architecture.The HP Wolf Security Controller provides security policy and software updatesfor the endpoint security product installed on the client PCs. It also receivesstatus, events and threat data from these clients, including malware traceswhich are used to produce interactive visualisations in the web-based UI andsummarised in reports. The Controller is deployed at scale, both on-premises atindividual corporate enterprises with tens of thousands of clients, and in thecloud across hundreds of AWS instances. We're continuing to scale further, whilealso adding support for new products and enhancing existing features.The HP Wolf Security Portal is the unifying service for customers accessingthe capabilities provided by HP Wolf Security on endpoints. Integrating withdifferent SSO providers (Azure AD, HP ID) for authentication, it enablesself-service onboarding for entitlement to HP Wolf Security endpointsoftware. For small-medium businesses or consumers it provides a simplifiedlicense management and configuration portal, whereas for larger customers itprovides integrated access to their own dedicated Controller. It has featuresto support partners and our HP support teams to help customers onboard andmanage their HP Wolf Security products.There may also be an opportunity to work on other supporting cloud serviceswhere some make use of Go, along with others using our typical stack.## Required* Proven experience working with Python for web applications* Successful experience of designing scalable web services* Experience in tuning and optimising SQL queries, indices and other   techniques to get the best performance out of the DBMS* Understanding of HTTP, caching, performance tradeoffs* Understanding of web security issues and how to design to avoid them* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent## Desirable* Experience designing and deploying cloud services at scale* Experience using distributed task queue systems, such as CeleryJob -SoftwareSchedule -Full timeShift -No shift premium (United Kingdom)Travel -Relocation -EEO Tagline - HP Inc. is EEO F/M/Protected Veteran/ Individual with Disabilities.
