By working closely between the broader Quality team and product teams, you're pivotal to ensuring Quality is everyone's responsibility which ultimately leads to better software for our customers.   You will work closely with our Analytics team, who are on building tools for customers to gain insights from usage patterns in their software. We don't currently have an SET working with this team, so you will have the opportunity to identify and build the test frameworks and strategies from scratch! This is a globally distributed team, with team members across EMEA, APAC and AMER who rely heavily on working asynchronously.   Want to see some of what the Quality team has built? The GitLab Performance Tool : Tests the server performance of GitLab environment  The GitLab Environment Toolkit : A provisioning and configuration toolkit for deploying GitLab's Reference Architectures with Terraform and Ansible    What you will do Create new test frameworks and strategies for the team Work closely with the product engineering team to ensure Quality is embedded from the start Work with the product team and other development teams to understand how new features should be tested, and then engage them in contributing automated tests. Identify and drive the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability, and maintainability. You should know about clean code and the test pyramid, and champion these concepts. Analyze complex software systems and collaborate with others to improve the overall design, testability and quality. Strive for the fastest feedback possible. Test parallelization should be a top priority. You see distributed systems as a core challenge of good test automation infrastructure. Requirements Strong experience developing in Ruby Strong experience using Git Experience using test automation tools like Capybara, Watir, Selenium Familiarity with Clikchouse, Google Analytics, Snowplow and/or Redis (if you've worked on them, even better!) Experience building test frameworks from scratch You share our values , and work in accordance with those values. Qualified candidates will be invited to schedule a 30 minute screening call with our Recruiting team. Next, candidates will then be invited to schedule a 1 hour technical interview with a Senior Test Automation Engineer. Next, candidates will then be invited to schedule a 1 hour peer interview with two Engineers in the Quality department. Next, candidates will be invited to schedule a 45 minute first interview with the Hiring Manager. Finally, candidates will be invited to schedule a 45 minute interview with the Head of Quality. Remote-UK The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity . Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. Colorado/Washington pay range $110,800 — $213,800 USD California/New York/New Jersey pay range $110,800 — $237,600 USD Country Hiring Guidelines: GitLab hires new team members in countries around the world.
