Modernization across the application portfolio is essential, yet many IT organizations struggle to get traction, quantify outcomes and deliver at scale. Rapid Portfolio Modernization (RPM) is a prescribed set of consulting services used to accelerate and unlock complex digital transformation initiatives. RPM is delivered by a global team of specialist Solution Architects and Program Strategists, who find opportunity within the application portfolio using powerful discovery tools, define iterative roadmaps using proven techniques and drive “reasonable first steps” forward with hands-on agile practices. VMware is doubling down on this approach and aggressively growing our team. Your opportunity on this team is to collaborate with customers who face these challenges, and work closely with our amazingly talented group, to cut through ambiguity, plan roadmaps, measure and prove value during short yet impactful consulting engagements. The process relies on your creativity to gather needed information, discover the root cause of technical concerns, and turn those insights into cohesive and flexible strategies that meet evolving customer expectations. Short (hours, days or a handful of weeks) engagements mean an exciting, fast-paced set of conversations where you will up-level your technical and consulting skills while sharpening your storytelling capacities. Short engagements also means a lot of iteration - a unique opportunity to practice your craft, help shape our team’s template for success, and develop your eye for patterns in the industry.Success in the Role: What performance outcomes will you be working toward over the first 6-12 months? You’ll work by pairing with customers and your VMware colleagues to understand the current application landscape, build data-driven decision models tuned to their specific goals, and be hands-on to help prove it all. You’ll work closely with your peers right from the start to understand and iterate on our practices to make them more impactful, repeatable, and scalable as our team grows.Within 30 days you’ll understand the VMware and related platforms and products used by our customers.Within two months, you’ll join a team of Program Strategists and other Solutions Architects on a customer engagement. What is the structure and culture of the team?We are big thinkers who generate a lot of ideas, debate with kindness, collaborate on initiatives that matter, and maintain a safe space for all. We support each other by whatever means necessary, and trust each other to get the job done right, in a way that accommodates a flexible schedule to balance work and life. We look forward to welcoming team members, and work hard to make sure the onboarding process is smooth. Where is this role located? We prioritize project staffing based on requirements, skill, and location. We believe the fastest way to build customer rapport and authentic relationships is in person.
