Edge Compute is a newly formed group in the Service Provider and Edge BU (SEBU), responsible for taking to market Edge Compute products and services for Enterprises and Service Providers. The Managed Edge Product Manager works autonomously and as part of a dynamic and specialized Product team that is responsible for engaging with clients to understand their business challenges and IT priorities in an effort to design customized Edge solutions, that meets their needs. We are seeking an individual who has a real passion for technology - someone with social intelligence, enthusiasm and a collaborative ambitious mentality with a ‘can do’ attitude. This is a highly visible role, at the forefront of VMware’s strategy, working in a highly collaborative and fast-growing environment. As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the Edge Computing Managed Edge Solutions, where we leverage VMware Cloud Management platform to manage compute in the near and far edge for Enterprise needs. Using your strong product instincts and agile and user-centered design values, principles and practices, you will be in charge of feature definition, roadmap, and direction of the product/solution.As a Managed Edge Product Manager, you will be crafting a solution that may include activities such as running strategy & discovery workshop, conducting client interviews, conducting secondary research and soliciting guidance from VMware Account Team. This team works with product specialists, product managers, public cloud partners, and other stakeholders in the design and validation of offerings and alignment for a customer’s edge architecture. Your primary responsibility is to work with customers, however there will be a strong linkage to VMware’s partner ecosystem in order to design & prove out transformational strategies spanning private, public cloud and Communication Service Provider (Telco) architectures. You are expected to contribute to those strategies, develop reusable domain IP, and mentor internal & external partners on the use of the tools & technologies. As a Managed Edge Product Manager you should have excellent listening and discovery skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to solve complex problems, be a big picture thinker and be able to visualize and articulate the proposed solution. With a clear and agreed upon client vision, you will be responsible for crafting the solution to realize the customer vision during the sales process and retain client ownership through to implementation. In addition to Managed Edge, you will also be the ambassador for VMware’s Private Mobile Network solution for the Europe region. As Product Manager based in-region, you will be the liaison between the VMware PMN product team and customers in Europe. Private Mobility and Edge are very intricately linked and hence having this joint responsibility will help you meet VMware service provider customer’s needs better. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Collaboratively define and drive Managed Edge Compute Solution vision, strategy, and roadmapWorking closely with VCPP, Tanzu and vSphere product team, understand latest features, integrate them into the Managed Edge Compute Roadmap Demonstrate leadership in IT management by producing strategic and innovative concept proposals pairing with IT Application Architects and IT OperatorsWork with Edge Compute team to discover problems, drive product definition, design and prototype to create valuable, desirable and feasible solutionsBecome a thought leader in the use of Managed Edge Compute to drive new GTMs for Enterprise opportunity.Build effective relationships with members of teams across the companyGive feedback to the Edge Compute product team on strategy & influence the roadmapShare ideas, solicit feedback, and collaborate effectively, as part of a high-performing team, to enable all members to be successfulThe Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but daily life at Edge Solutions team will have you doing many or all the following:  Responsibilities:Participate in and drive elements of the pre-sales process to understand customer business, technical objectives, and product requirements Build robust Edge solutions to meet business & technical objectives Ability to develop Vision, Strategy and Roadmaps deliverables to meet technical solutions Ability to understand Enterprise use-cases and map it to the Edge eco-system of Service ProvidersPrioritize requirements and arrive at a MVP that can address customer needs  Own and execute projects against clear project plans with well-defined milestones and business impact objectivesAbility to think past the products and craft solutions to meet the business/IT needs You will establish credibility & build deep relationships with senior technical leaders within customers and become trusted advocates of VMware’s Edge strategy Participate in deep architectural discussions with enterprise customers and VMware partners (Service providers and Managed Service Providers) to build confidence and ensure customer success when building new and migrating existing applications, software and services on VMware’s Edge platform. You will work within a team that drives account planning with the customer vision, use case and outcomes Effectively communicate solutions value proposition to the customer, field teams and partners.Author blogs, product collaterals or white paper based on experiences Be flexible to travel, both locally and internationally.Required Skills Cradle to Success product management experience, preferably in the service provider spaceA mix of technical skills, business insight, and a passion to lead and support the customer Requires 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a Product Manager capacity Experience managing products that apply Virtualization techniques, Cloud/Edge-native architectures, 4G/5G core and RAN, APIs, legacy system modernization Being a self-starter, willing to work both independently and collaboratively across globally distributed organizations. Flexible to collaborate across multiple time zones Agile development experience, including methodology and tools. Desirable Requirements Familiarity with Platform as a Service vendor offerings and solutions Working experience of delivering Telco Edge or MEC solutions to service providersExperience in delivering Private 5G solution Experience and knowledge of cloud solutions for edge applications, such as Azure IoT, Azure Stack, AWS OutpostsWhat is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?This position reports to Sr. Director of Solutions, Service Provider and Edge. He run the Solutions program for Edge across regions under the Service Provider and Edge Business Unit. This is predominantly a self-contained distributed team with both PMs and Solution Architects working side-by-side defining and delivering validated solutions that our customers seek.Each Product Manager has a defined area of responsibility and has full latitude to identify, strategize, and deliver solutions that expand the usage of VMware products. He/She is expected to take complete ownership of the solution and collaborate with cross-functional team.Where is this role located?Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
