Search JobsJob DescriptionThe Cloud Platform organization is responsible for VMware’s core virtualization products such as vSphere, Workstation, Fusion, and other solutions for Enterprise Virtualization. The ESXi R&D acceleration team is part of the Cloud Platform organization and is responsible for making ESXi operating system development go faster and the ESXi product ship faster. We are looking for an experienced hands-on developer to join the ESXi R&D acceleration team. You will have a profound impact on how developers get their job done by improving and accelerating the ESXi product delivery, developing advanced build infrastructure, building tools and frameworks for code instrumentation and code coverage, designing and developing software for testing and analysis of our codebases, static analysis, source code system integration, metrics collection, reporting, and other such projects. This is an opportunity to speed up an entire R&D team.RequirementsBachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or a similar field.8+ years of overall technology experience in a software development-related role.Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, Python, or Golang.Experience with build systems such as make, SCons, Bazel, etc.Experience with source code management tools (such as Perforce, Git), CI/CD, and containers (Kubernetes, Docker).A team player, a passionate learner, and someone who takes the initiative to solve complex problems.Good communication skills.Demonstrated a history of learning new technologies quickly.Nice to haveLow-level Unix/Linux programming skills.Low-level Operating System internals skills.Experience with static analysis and code coverage tools.Written engineering documentation to help other engineers.Experience with evaluating and integrating open source and in-house developed toolsetsVMware is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Prohibits Discrimination and Harassment of Any Kind: VMware is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
