Search JobsJob DescriptionWhy will you enjoy this new opportunity?When you join the VMWare Analytics Ingestion Platform team you will become a part of a group of experienced engineers developing Best-In-Class Analytics Platform built on a VMware private cloud that has hundreds of internal customers already. The team is working on building a multi-tenant service, which enables multiple teams of data engineers and analysts to integrate, transform and manage their own datasets independently, while sharing and reusing data and results. If you are passionate about data ingestion, data engineering and data infrastructure, and you would like to contribute to an exciting, challenging and constantly evolving product, we would love to have you in our growing team.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Within the first month of employment, become competent with the Data Ingestion project, guidelines and standard operations. You will work closely with more senior members of the team as part of a Scrum team and you will make your first contribution to the project.Within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment, you will start working on a feature for the product in a small sub-teamWithin 180 days (about 6 months) of employment, you will be an expert in the Data Ingestion project and be responsible for crafting requirements for assigned features, designing and coding robust solutions and ensuring quality levels through continuous integration, monitoring and testing. You will be able to support our existing internal customers directly interfacing with them to solve application and deployment quandaries.Within the first year of employment, you will be making larger changes to the project from start to finish, including designing the change and going through the architectural review process, implementing the changes in small sub-teams and deploying the changes in the Data Analytics Platform infrastructure. The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?As part of the Data Ingestion team you will be :Designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining software, focused on Big Data ingestion using technologies like Java, SQL, Kubernetes, Kafka, SparkParticipating in all phases of the software development cycle as part of a Scrum teamActively participating and contributing to design, architecture and code reviewsIntegrating developed code into Continuous Integration and DevOps pipelinesBuilding tools to expedite development, qualification and deployment of our solutionPartnering and integrating with other teams and components to deliver and end-to-end solutionWhat is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?You’ll be joining a growing team of around 40 engineers located in Bulgaria and the US. The larger team is split into several sub teams with local management, focused on the different areas of VMware’s Data Analytics platform. We are looking for individuals who are self-driven and have the passion to learn new skills and solve complex technical issues. Where is this role located?The location of this role is flexible within Bulgaria. Work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building with the employees having the option to choose the option of working fully remote.
