The team is working on building a multi-tenant service, which enables multiple teams of data engineers and analysts to integrate, transform and manage their own datasets independently, while sharing and reusing data and results. The purpose of the Data Pipelines project is to provide scalable and performant infrastructure for data engineers to build efficient pipelines for data integration and transformations. If you are passionate about data engineering, data infrastructure, and you would like to contribute to an exciting, challenging and constantly evolving product, we would love to have you in our team!Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Contribute to the success of the Data Pipelines component by:Within the first month of employment, become competent with the Data Pipelines project, guidelines, and standard operations. Work closely with the more senior members of the team to get onboard. Make your first contribution to the project.Within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment, you will start working on a feature of the product in a small sub-team.Within 180 days (about 6 months), you will be an expert in the Data Pipelines project and be able to support our existing internal customers, work independently on new features and be able to propose improvements to the project.Within the first year of employment, you will be making larger changes to the project from start to finish, including designing changes and going through the architectural review process, leading the implementation effort with a small sub-team and deploying the changes in the Data Analytics Platform infrastructure.What type of work will you be doing? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis?The primary goal of this role is to support and further develop the Data Pipelines project. Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments: Be part of an Agile scrum team and participate in daily meetings Design and develop new functionalities for the Data Pipelines project, using technologies like Python, Java, SQL, Kubernetes, Impala, etc. Ensure the success of the users of the Data Pipelines project and the Analytics Platform by engaging in solving any unexpected problems as well helping them understand the platform and develop working and efficient solutions on top of it Foster the open-source project and engage with the external community What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?You’ll be joining a growing team of around 40 engineers located in Bulgaria and the US. The larger team is split into several sub teams with local management, focused on the different areas of VMware’s Data Analytics platform. We are looking for individuals who are self-driven and have the passion to learn new skills and solve complex technical issues. The location of this role is flexible within Bulgaria. Work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building with the employees having the option to choose the option of working fully remotely.
