We want you to join us on a journey to transform some of the largest enterprise networks in the world. This is a highly technical, hands-on role, as you will be the primary contact for our clients and partners supporting the SASE & SD-WAN deployment and rollout. You will work with VMware sales, partners and customer network architects to develop the detailed network design, and successfully carry out the deployment and cutover. You will solve potentially complex network problems which span beyond just SASE and take it all the way to resolution. You will also take the practical, real world, learning and help us further improve our products and usability. What are the performance outcomes over the first 12 months you will work toward completing?Within 30 days of employment, you will become competent in VMware SD-WAN and SASE Services.   You will get to build your own lab environment and collaborate with the other Architects to help you learn the technology and gain some hands-on experience.    You will also be aligned with some key Telco or Managed Service Provider (MSP) partners in Japan that sell VMware SASE services and meet the customer success, sales, and sales engineering teams that support that partner.   You’ll get to know some of the product managers and learn the overall SASE organization.Within 90 days of employment, you will have established a relationship with the Telco or MSP you’ll be aligned with, and understand their architecture and future plans.   You’ll work to understand their environment, challenges and their deployment and future strategy.     You will seek opportunities to drive SASE adoption and help the partner plan for the move from SD-WAN only, to SASE.   This can include helping them deploy Proof of Concepts (POCs) or demos.Within 180 days, you will have established yourself as a trusted advisor with the partner and help them successful deploy and sell VMware SASE services.   You may help with design reviews or health-checks for their key customers, and may work with the Technical Support team to make sure any troubles are handled in a timely matter.   You’ll also establish a relationship with the SASE Product Management team and provide valuable information about your partner(s).    This can include feature enhancement recommendations, new trials or POCs for new capabilities.     You may also help provide training to the partner on new releases.Within 360 days, you will be focused over the horizon, defining new approaches, strategies and operations to accelerate VMware leadership and success in the SASE space and help make VMware SASE the lead service offering.    You will also get involved in emerging services like Firewall as a Service, Private 5G services and Edge Computing.What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?As a SASE Partner Architect, you are used to working in a fast-paced environment where you are customer and partner facing. You can articulate the value proposition of the product portfolio and our platform, clearly and concisely. You have the technical acumen and can relate to customers’ most complex challenges and have technical expertise to go deep to solve them.   Some key functions are:Assist Partners Developing the High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD)Review & audit configuration to ensure VMware standard methodologies are followedReview or assist in defining cutover plan and participate in the pre-cutover callsDesign, build, and maintain deployment labs for validating designs and reproducing issues.Assist in developing design guides.Support cutover as requestedTrack the deployment progress (number of sites, software releases). Recommend and plan software upgrade as necessary.Review changes in customers’ requirements, feature needs, and communicate with account team and product managementTackle challenging network issues which may span multiple network devicesDevelop or provide feedback for tools to assist in deploymentEnjoy traveling and interacting with various functions in VMware clients and partners such as project manager, network engineers, director of network architecture, and CIORequirements:The ideal candidate should possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture, see-around-the-bend vision; and the drive, influencing skills and ability to collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Professional Services, Support and Executive Staff to transform that vision into a reality. They must also enjoy spending time with customers, resolving their critical problems and finding innovative solutions for VMware to improve the customer experience.Professional Qualifications and Experience:Ability to pick up and learn new things, be autonomous, and be creative in solving complex problems.3+ years of experiences in customer facing roles, such as Customer Support, Deployment Engineer, or Network EngineersExceptional communication and listening skills, ability to quickly build rapport, establish trust and credibility with VMware clients and partnersNetwork Industry Certification such as CCIE or equivalentCloud Security knowledge or experiencePractical experiences of routing design and implementation using OSPF and BGPExperience supporting or deploying WAN technologies, data centers networking, and network security in the enterprise production networkGeneral understanding of enterprise networking design and architecture such as WAN Edge, Core, and Internet Edge as well as SD-WAN technology and benefits.Hands on experiences with different products and technologies commonly seen in Enterprise network, including routers, switches, firewall, VPN concentrator, Wireless LAN, hypervisors, Windows, Linux, etc.Familiarity with Linux and network analysis tools such as iptables, tcpdump, traceroute, etc.Virtualization experience with VMware and KVM is a plusCloud service experience including AWS and Azure is a plusProgramming or scripting knowledge, e.g. python is a plusKnowledge of 5G and Edge cloud is a plusAbility to travel both domestic and international.
