The role combines both inbound and outbound product management and is about equal parts business and technical. You will be working directly with cloud provider ecosystem partners such as Cloudian, Veeam, Fortanix and others. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to play a key role in helping VMware grow the product portfolio for the Service Provider market along with our customer and partner ecosystem.What type of work will you be doing? You'll be responsible for defining, driving, and managing the product strategy, roadmap, and product lifecycle and product release for VMware Cloud Service Provider Ecosystem Solutions both working internally with other VMware BUs as well as 3rd party best in class technology partners. This is a senior product management role which has three key strategic focus areas.One-third of your time will be spent working with the technical community on creating EPICs, prioritization of product and solution requirements including gathering requirements, crafting technical specifications, coordinating development efforts through implementation and subsequent support. The technical community includes not limited to Engineering managers, Architects and UX/UI designers within your own business unit as well as teams from other BUs within VMware.2nd key area of focus is to leverage your business development skills and broad market understanding of the cloud services and related technologies to manage and grow relationships with 3rd party ecosystem partners. Gather feedback and validation from the VMware Cloud Service Providers worldwide on their business problems and new use cases and address those integration portfolio gaps working with the key stakeholders internally and externally.And last but not least you will be responsible to drive the conventional product management responsibilities and best practices within your product team as well as across the organization. Work closely with Cloud Provider field-facing teams, Sales, and Marketing on go-to-market strategies and provider enablement. As part of the enablement, represent your ecosystem offerings in customer and partner meetings, industry events and VMware explore conferences. Work with the leadership team on new product business justifications and growth areas. Help train the sales and support prior to the product releases. Align organizational approach to partner needs, create pricing, packaging, and positioning that will ensure the success of the VMware Cloud provider offerings and maximize the growth and revenue opportunities for the company. Perform competitive analysis, define, and communicate key VMware advantages, and create solution briefs and other collateral to communicate the value proposition of products and solutions to customers and partners.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?In this role you will help shape the Cloud provider ecosystem offerings roadmap and portfolio by defining medium and long-term product goals, to enable our customers and partners to deliver value to their end customers. You will work extensively with 3rd party companies that are working with VMware Cloud Provider team on jointly engineered solutions targeted for the Service Provider market. You will also work cross-functionally with other BUs in the VMware, R&D, Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales, and other teams through all phases of the software development process, successfully identifying market problems, defining requirements for product features and enhancements that solve those market problems, prioritizing features, and successfully delivering the products that our customers need. After 6-8 months+ Understanding of the current Cloud Provider Ecosystem offerings and related technology stacks and architecture. Understanding of the current Service Provider market, Sales motion and GTM dynamics.Contribute to and maintain the long-term product roadmap to help shape the future of what it means to deliver cloud-based data protection, data management, compliance and security solutions integrated with the VMware Cloud Director Ecosystem offerings. Established strong working relationships with the R&D and Engineering teams to help in developing their backlog and jointly plan the software release cycles. Established yourself as a trusted advisor and SME internally and externally (with our ecosystem partners, providers and their customers) on our vision and direction for Ecosystem Portfolio of solutions and services within the Cloud Provider business unit and product offerings. Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related technical/quantitative field and three to five years of product management experience in job offered or related position, or, Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related technical/quantitative field and six to eight years of product management experience in job offered or related position. MBA degree is a plus.Employer desire one or more of the following skills gained through industry experience:Creating product specifications, product pricing and performing competitive analysis or market researchProduct management experience in Cloud Services, Cloud Computing, Datacenter software/hardware stack environment delivering products to market.Experience managing and/or launching Data Protection, Data management and Security related solutions and services.Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud platforms and solutions. Service Provider market understanding is a plus.Experience with Private, On-premises and SaaS delivery of technology solutions Developer-facing productsHardware & platform solutions for enterprise and/or service providers or channelsWhat is the leadership like for this role?
