Working in Data Analytics and Customer Success team part of VMware Data Management Platform, you will become part of engineering team, which deliver data services to VMware. You would be working in a motivated team, working on variety of challenging data analytics and data engineering projects, learn new technologies every day, bring data from third party data sources and create and support reporting for all Data Management Platform Services. This role also offers the ability to show leadership, deep knowledge and motivation to help other data practitioners in the company to better understand how to work with the platform, assess relevance of services for various data goals and guide them through the adoption process. You will become part of a team which is working on interesting technical challenges but also able to contribute back to data community.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Analyze and interpret data related problems:- Within 6 months of employment, become competent member of the Data Management Platform team, who can assess the best methodology to meet a goal with the use of data.- Work on developing new data models (data warehouses) and build all data pipelines that deliver this model.- Promote the Data Management Platform and clearly articulate the benefits it brings to the data community.- You would be working closely with Engineering, Data Engineers and Data Analysts to provide day-to-day operations support for users adopting the Data Management Platform and making sure existing data warehouse and reports are operational.- Within the 12 months of employment, become competent in existing data processes for collection of data from products, services, third party systems, etc. and understand core data semantics of key VMware products.- Ability to understand and make clear connections between datasets produced by other teams.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect variety of the following assignments:- Build and maintain data pipelines for extracting data from third party data sources (typically using Versatile Data Kit)- Build and maintain data warehouses- Build and maintain reports- Engage in company-wide initiatives for implementing common data models on key topics and enable easier cross-product reporting.- Consult potential or existing Data Management Platform tenants on how to extract value from the platform and the services it provides- Talk to Product Managers, Engineering Leads and Senior Engineering Staff to understand their requirements, assess whether their use case fits in Data Management Platform and work with them to build a plan for adoption of the platform. You would also be leading them through the onboarding process.- Be the voice of the Data Engineer: Spot common problems data engineers and analysts face and address/ transform them as new feature or documentation requirements- Contribute to Data Platform DocumentationWhat is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?The Hiring Manager for this role is Dimira Petrova, Manager leading Data Analytics and Customer Success team for VMware Data Management Platform team. She currently takes care of the team based in Sofia, Bulgaria and she has been through various technical roles from Advanced Data Analytics, Data Engineering and then switched to management track. She has been with the company for 6+ years. She believes that leadership is not defined by titles and encourages her team to be leaders and live the values they all bring to the team while being creative to solve problems.The team is currently located only in Sofia but we are looking to build presence in Costa Rica as well. The team is working on variety of tasks in a dynamic atmosphere. The team is very motivated, transparent, there is open culture where everyone is encouraged to learn from the others. Sharing knowledge within the team and outside of the team is a core value that helps the team build new skills but also foster data community growth in VMware.Where is this role located?Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.
