If so, our Virtual Platform Infrastructure team is looking for a motivated and talented systems software developer to join the team's experienced OS generalists who apply their knowledge to solving a wide variety of system software level problems.As a member of the team, you will be responsible for providing robust infrastructure to enable virtualization, systems, & application software for current and next generation platform.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Within 30 days of employment, you will become competent with VMware's development environment, guidelines and standard practices.Within 90 days of employment, you will start resolving internal customer technical issues through reproduction and troubleshooting.Within 120 days of employment, you will be in a position to start working on external customer issues.Within 180 days along with the above, you will be collaborating with other engineering partners in gathering product requirements and start designing and implementing system software for the virtualization platform for use in our virtualization products (ESXi, Cloud solutions, Fusion and Workstation).The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:Work closely with team in evaluating feature requests from engineering partners to provide infrastructure changes needed by our customers and VMware's product groups' cloud services and offerings.Assist team members in investigating internally and externally reported platform infrastructure issues.Contribute ideas for new features and services for our multi-cloud platform.Write design and functional specifications for new features.Implement helpful changes to improve team's operational efficiency and productivity.Use programming skills in C, understanding of algorithms, data structures, computer architecture and distributed systems concepts in daily workWhat is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?The hiring manager for this role is the director of Virtual Platform Infrastructure who looks after the team from Palo Alto. Candidate will be joining a global team that is spread throughout VMware offices including Palo Alto, Sofia, Beijing, and Bangalore. The team focuses on delivering innovations and fostering each and everyone's professional growth through coaching and continuing education.
