VMC on AWS is deployed in 18 AWS regions with 10s of thousands of hosts across the globe.  You will be member of elite group of SREs, and lead with your thought leadership in security aspect of the infrastructure software.  As a Security Officer of the VMC Services, you will provide your technical contribution that focuses on improving availability, integrity, confidentiality of data, and overall security of the service offerings for CSBU. The greatest focus is expected to be on the VMC service offerings including detailed focus on improving the configuration, operation, and implementation of the SDDCs that we provide to our customers. The role will work closely with the program office in developing a continuous improvement program for security functions. The CSBU Security Officer will work across the entire BU with ready access and help from the senior leadership in the BU. We're looking for someone that is hands on in the technical aspects but is comfortable leading other business functions like program management, product management, and engineering leadership to drive and implement the security strategy.What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward Set a vision and a strategy for the BU security across all service offerings.Single point of contact for security related issues from other BUs and from external sources and will work closely with the VMware vSECR team.Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive security risk management framework that will be used BU wide.Use the risk management framework to drive a continuous improvement program for security at CSBU.Develop/enhance, drive, and monitor incident response for security incidents and reported vulnerabilities in our service or components we use in our services.Provide feedback and improvements to the existing secure development lifecycle activities in the company.Provide architecture reviews, design reviews, and recommendations for development process improvements to increase awareness of security concerns while also directly impacting the security of our offerings. These reviews will include our own services within the BU and will include reviews in other groups for the components that make up our SDDC.Develop/enhance, drive, and monitor red team, game day, and other operational checks against our systems.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? Strong security related technical abilities. Ideal candidate will have developed exploits, security products, and have a tinkering mindset. Industry experience, functional knowledge of security operations in a technology enterprise, experience with on-prem or cloud security best practices (prefer both)Experience with vSphere platformKnowledge of common security frameworks like ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST.Experience operating and securing VMware SDDC components including ESXi, VC, VSAN, NSX-T.Experience securely using hosted services from Cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS, etc..)Relevant Industry Certification(s) such as CISSPExperience with production Kubernetes operationsExperience with MITRE ATT&CK Framework (Specifically Cloud Matrix)Experience in Incident Response / Incident Management / Security Product ManagementFamiliarity with threat profiles for both public cloud Infrastructure and VMware's products.What is the leadership like for this role? He has a background in software development and operations. His goal is to continue to cultivate SaaS mindset in the SRE team, with sense of service ownership and customer obsession and rock-solid infrastructure availability that customer should expect from a company with the history and responsibility of VMware. He also views this role being responsible for providing uniquely important feedback to Product Development and Product Management, with regards to how customers are using the service, how we keep it secure. Ravi will work with you to set the direction, provide guidance, and remove impediments.
