We leverage the industry’s leading compute, network and storage virtualization platforms to help customers build and operate their own automated private cloud.Working on the Cloud Foundation team, candidates will get hands on experience working with vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Kubernetes and other technologies. You will also get the opportunity to influence the next generation of clouds – private, public and hybrid.We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on product manager to be part of our exciting Cloud Foundation Product Management team. The role requires a Product Manager that has a strong passion for building great products and a customer first attitude.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes you will work towards completing?Build up domain level experience for your specific technical area and fully own execution of the roadmap for your specific area.Within 45 days of employment, become competent with VMware’s SDDC architecture playbook. Understand how Cloud Foundation integrates with vSphere, vSAN and NSX to help customers build up their private cloud. You will work closely with engineering to build up hands on experience working with Cloud Foundation and its platform components.Within 90 days of employment, you will begin collaborating with the VMware field team to understand our customer’s deployment goals and challenges. Through ongoing engagements with the field team, you will build up a profile of our customer’s needs and pain paints. Within 180 days of employment, you will assume full ownership and become a SME in your technical domain. You will be able to handle and lead escalation calls with our field team. You will build up a product backlog and roadmap and work with engineering to execute on the roadmap.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Responsibilities cover market strategy, technology vision, product definition, partnering, competitive analysis, and product release management for topics that may range from product features, partner integration, and platform extensibility.RequirementsA strong customer first attitude and passion for product design and design thinking5+ years of Product Management experience in virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure or storage domainStrong analytical skills and a natural predisposition toward data-driven decision making.Experience with SaaS based product and/or services and DevOps workflowsConfident decision-making with the ability to influence internal and external partnersProven ability to work with sales and sales engineering teamsExcellent social skills and experience leading complex enterprise partnershipsA roll up the sleeves approach to getting the job doneStrong partnering & teaming behavior to bring together diverse viewsExcellent verbal, written, and presentation abilitiesPreferredBS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and MBA are a plusAbility to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders and navigate complex decision making Engage with our customers and partners to develop an understanding of their business needs and market opportunities for our productsTranslate customer and partner business needs into product strategy and technology requirements as part of market and product requirementsEngage customers with early release features, actively seek and internalize input from such customers and serve as a voice for the customer with the respective product teamsCollaborate with key partners to establish a vision and strategy for integration with VCF and work with partner product teams to deliver on the visionIdentify and nurture key partnerships to deliver integration between VCF and partner offerings to strengthen product portfolio capabilitiesProvide domain expertise and thought leadership in one of the following areas – compute, networking, storage, cloudBuild unrivaled differentiators for your products based on market analysis & customer feedback promoting these in social media, user groups & conferencesServe as evangelist for VCF with our partners and high-touch strategic customer accountsWhat is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?The hiring manager for this role is a Director of Product Management on the Cloud Foundation team. The team’s management believes in a servant leadership philosophy – hire the best and brightest, set clear goals and expectations and then support your team to ensure that they are successful. We encourage our Product Managers to be leaders and expect them to fully own their respective domains of expertise.The Product Management team for Cloud Foundation is geographically dispersed with team members in the United States and India.
