You want to be a part of a collaborative environment whose teams care about the product they are creating, how they create it, and the impact it has on customers’ business objectives.We need someone who can collaborate with the technical leads, product management and other engineering stakeholders/teams to design, develop and deliver software that is responsible for maintaining the lifecycle and health monitoring of VMware’s core infrastructure stack.As part of the Storage & Availability Lifecycle Mgmt. team, you would beWorking on solving critical operational management challenges that our customers face while consuming our core infrastructure platform – both on private and cloud deployments.Working on new cloud solution / platform which would provide an easier management plane for customers to manage all their various deployed infrastructureEnhancing the lifecycle management workflows such as to simplify deployments, upgrades, compliance reporting and other critical functions for our private and cloud infrastructure deployments.Building real time health monitoring platform which has the responsibility of monitoring the health of the Hardware, be able to predictively determine any imminent failures and be able to pro-actively take a remediation action.This team is focussed with key cloud initiatives which would be responsible in increasing VMware's cloud adoption.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Within your first 6 monthsYou will be expected to ramp yourself up with the on-going product development work and environment by taking the help of an assigned mentor and other members of the team.You will be expected to begin contributing to the on-going feature development, participate in architecture/design reviews and product development around the various features that the team is currently working on.After 6 months +You will be responsible for understanding the requirements of new key initiatives, come up with the technical design document, engage with various stakeholders to get it reviewed. You will be responsible for driving new initiatives end to end.You will be responsible for coaching and mentoring junior engineering talents in the team, enforce and advocate for good engineering development practices.You will be regularly evaluated on the quality of the product you create and the code you write to ensure continued advancement of your technical skills in an environment that looks to expand them.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?As a Senior Software engineer of the team, you will:Work with the engineering tech leads and product management teams to review and refine delivery requirementsWrite technical design document and hold reviewsParticipate in all team scrum activitiesDevelop and maintain software that delivers on the team’s objectives primarily in C++, Python, and Java.Collaborate with our OEM (Dell, HPE etc.) and Cloud (AWS, Azure etc.) vendor partners as part of the product development lifecycleCommunicate with internal consumers of the team’s software, gather requirements and facilitate adoption of your solutionsWhat is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?This position reports to the Senior Engineering manager of the Storage & availability Lifecycle mgmt. team, an experienced software engineer and manager who has been working at VMware on multiple different projects/products. The team consists of highly competent engineers – a good mix of junior, mid-level and senior engineers. We focus on iterative development, both of software and our software development practices.Where is this role located?Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable, or the location agreed upon with your hiring manager.
