We are a growing team and are looking for a strong engineering talent to help us build a next-generation services platform. The VMC Monitoring team builds and maintains an end-to-end monitoring platform for software defined datacenters and cloud control plane services. The monitoring platform provides features such as data collection, data streaming, alerting and incident management. The VMC Monitoring team is looking for quality software developers with a diverse set of experiences and skill sets to design and build solutions needed for the exciting new VMWare Cloud on AWS services. As part of VMC Monitoring team you will design, develop, and support extensible services/platforms that provide monitoring and incident management capabilities to all VMC SaaS and SDDC platform/services.When you're working for a company that shares your values, it's easier to enjoy what you do. We do it with a spirit of inclusion and trust acting as 'One VMware' to help our customers win.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?The following is a schedule for the first year of joining:Within 1 month of employment, become competent with VMware’s rules, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.Within 3 months of employment, take guidance to complete project goals under general supervision and implements solutions for well-defined technical problems with limited ambiguityWithin 6 months of employment, learn the product/SaaS offering which you will help secure, the technology stack which they use, become familiar with all the operational aspects, and get accustomed to the development and scrum processes and on-call shifts.Within 1 year of employment, work towards execute/implement solutions independently with a good understanding on the various services we ownThe Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:Become an expert in VMC Monitoring Platform, VMC on AWS and various other VMware products.Deliver high-quality, multi-tenant, enterprise level SaaS services. Engage with and drive high-visibility DevOps process including continuous integration and continuous deployment with zero-downtime upgrades.Collaborate with multi-functional VMware project teams including VMware consultants, engineers, product management, and support staff.Support our production service as part of the on-call duties.Required and Preferred skills:Experience engineering, operating, troubleshooting, administrating, and scaling SaaS services.Proficient in one or more advanced programming languages such as Java, C++, python, etc.Excellent troubleshooting, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive.Deep understanding of distributed computing concepts in practice.Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment, including quickly getting up to speed with new technologies.Able to balance multiple tasks and projects effectively and quickly adapt to new variables.Proficient organizational skills with the ability to lead challenging demands.Minimum Qualifications:BS in Computer Science or related technical field, OR equivalent industry experience.1+ year Experience as DevOps Software Development (for large online services).1+ year Experience building and operating highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions.Understanding of Unix/Linux systems.A tenacious ability to diagnose and fix performance and reliability problems.Bonus Qualifications (Not required but helpful to have experience with 1 or more):Experience with container orchestrators (Kubernetes, Docker Native Orchestration, Mesos, Docker Swarm).Experience with streaming or queuing systems such as Kafka, ActiveMq, etc.Experience in VMware products, specifically Cloud related solutions such as: vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN or contending cloud solutions and products.Experience with one or more of the following: Data Engineering, A/B testingYou can document and version APIs.What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?Cloud Solutions SRE and Monitoring team is headed by Matt Williamson, who is the Director of SRE and Monitoring based out of the U.S. The leadership team reporting to Matt is based out of India, and U.S. As part of this role, you will be joining the India team, which is led by Chaitra Naresh in Bangalore, India.  The leadership encourages independent thinking and gives a free hand to innovate. We have a diverse, inclusive, and open culture in the team.
