You will present financial results to business partners and guide them through the decision-making process, managing operational expenses, tracking metrics, driving process improvements, and assessing drivers impacting future investments. You will innovate, build your own models, and drive process optimizations. The role will be a trusted finance advisor to the senior directors in the business and you will play a key role in top-line finance processes for the business unit.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Forecast, budget and analyze headcount (HC) and OPEX spend for assigned organizational unit and participate in bookings q-end/ad-hoc analyses:Within 30 days of employment, become competent with VMware’s FP&A processes, fiscal calendar, main tools and key stakeholders. Within 60 days you would be independently updating HC and OPEX forecast based on latest available information and would be executing on period close activities as per applicable timelines, driving communication with respective stakeholdersWithin 90 days you would have a good understanding of VMware’s Go-To-Market motion and strategyWithin 120 days, you would be in position to maintain and distribute regular reporting packages with informative variance analysis, provide additional context to business partners and advise on their ad hoc requestsWithin 240 days you would be ready to drive OPEX and HC planning conversations, review and challenge investment requests received from the business as well as develop new financial models supporting long term planning and scenario evaluationWithin 360 days, you would perform complex OPEX, HC and topline analysesYou would be collaborating with other colleagues from Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Operations and Sales to improve existing reporting and provide input in cross-functional projectsThe Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?The primary goal of this role is to support the business with all the aspects of HC and OPEX financial management. Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:Prepare and input in Hyperion OPEX and HC forecast as per FP&A calendar; discuss main assumptions, risks, and opportunities with the business stakeholders and CXS finance teamReview spend and make variance analysis using SAP BI, general ledger and other available data sourcesComplete close tasks as per quarterly schedule and provide input to improve close activities at the Corporate Finance levelIndependently lead regular meetings with business stakeholders to guide them on accounting principles, best OPEX budget management practices and advise them on budget utilizationReview and approve Purchase and Personnel Requisitions; make sure approved spend is as per budget, drives savings or has reasonable ROI.Guide the business on hiring plans and investments, including modelling, and anticipate business changes impacting hiring outcomesMaintain and build financial modelsUpdate excel dashboards and power point decks required as per the regular reporting scheduleTake the lead to guide and enable rest of team members when roles and responsibilities are not clearParticipate in finance-wide initiativesWhat is the leadership like for this role?
