The individual will work with component design, system, and optical architecture engineering teams and engage in coherent optical module test, design validation, and process evaluation for current and next-generation devices in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesWork cross-functionally with Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) design and fab process teams qualifying state of art optoelectronic devicesDesign test plans and algorithms of PIC/subassembly performance validation testsDevelop, implement, and document test tool hardware and software supporting new device characterization Knowledge / Skills /AbilitiesWe are looking for an individual with a strong background in either optical or electronic high-speed characterization:Fundamental understanding of semiconductor optoelectronic device characteristics Familiarity with optical and/or non-optical coherent communication (sub)systemsProgramming experience in Matlab, C, C++, Python, LabVIEW, VB.net or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisitionExperience in signal analysis and processing is a plusAbility to build, maintain and troubleshoot complex test hardware and software in a cross-functional environmentAttention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentationAbility to work well in cross-functional development teams, as well as excellent oral and written communication skillsEducation / ExperienceFresh PhD. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of applicable graduate-level and/or industrial experience in optical communications or photonics.
